Nah... that would hafta be a separate button altogether. We're looking to add a button for those times where ya want to acknowledge the posting for some reason, but nobody actually "likes" the subject matter. In this case, we were discussing the involuntary jettisoning of ones entrails, and the incidental separation of one's spinal column. Though one might appreciate or agree with the point of the posting... I feel fairly safe in assuming that noooooobody would "like" to have either of those things occur

It may not be a Subie but I bet it goes places even a Subie wouldn't dare tread.
Cool idea! You'd definitely make to to the gig, but you'd most likely be late... and the shovel thingy is more of a "pushy" thing, & not so much of a "carry" thing, so the gear may not respond too well to that particular mode of transport...
Hey everyone! I haven't posted in this thread, or Talkbass in general like since 2014... I remember being 15 or so reading threads during study hall on an iPhone 4. Jeez that seems like forever ago.
Recently, I tore apart an LTD guitar and built it back up, so I'm feeling ballsy enough to finally take on this project... again.
Probably close to 10 years ago now (that feels weird to say) I bought a Epiphone Thunderbird body for like $50 bucks. I was in probably middle school back then so that was big money to me.
Hence, I was always pretty reluctant to hack it up. Now I'm a mostly full functioning adult so 50 bucks as most of you know is gas money and some dinner.
Now that my opening monologue is out of the way I'll get right to the plan. Maybe you guys can help me execute this.
Thunderbird body, Fender neck, and here's the curveball, music man pickups? This is a bass I'd like to keep tuned to BEAD for stoner-ish, doom-ish and the occasional prog-ish stuff.
Could anyone help me out on where to source quality but not bank breaking parts from? What's gonna need routing, tips etc?

It has the Sunday driver in it and with the FSO it even reminds us how svelte, trim and sexy the TBird is compared to the old tired looking flabby Jazz bass. Oh, and thanks for not subjecting Kat and others to a salami vomit Tort guard.

Around here... your "wall of text" is only a moderately long posting. You used your words to give us some back-story & tell us what yer tryin' to do. That's always welcome! Had you been using your words to bash other people and/or their gear, it would be received very differently!
There are a number of folks here with "7enderBirds", and we've even got a guy with a "StatusBird", and another with a "Thunderbacker". My friend... you have come to the right place! I'm not the most qualified to help you out, but we have a lot of intelligent, talented, experienced folks here who are generous with their knowledge. You'll have your 'bird on the operating table in no time at all

@JJR58 What were those pups you were discussing recently that had the big EBMM style poll pieces? I can't remember the brand name, but I recall that they also made an EBMM style humbucker that got good marks...

As @theFixer said, you came to the right place, better now your a few years wiser too as the content gets tricky but its entertaining when and if you get it. Welcome back. I posted my Thunderbacker on page 2398 just the other day coincidently, everybody here knows about it but I finally set aside time to give up a sound sample. Epiphone Thunderbird with lefty P bass neck, Rickenbacker neck pickup, Chickenbacker neck pickup in the bridge position, 55-120 heavy gauge nickel wound NYXL strings and tuned to C F a d. I play in a progressive oriented doom band and this bass gets the job done no problem. Scour your local ads and thrift shops for bargain parts as I picked up a lefty P bass for $50 just for the neck, $120 for the new Rickenbacker neck pickup from ebay and if your not afraid to tackle mods than you can put your P neck on yourself in under an hour as I did. Thanks for the feedback guys! It definitely helps the motivation on a project like this. First step is gonna be finding a neck for sure. Once that's delt with I can focus on probably the most important part: the finish
