Looks like the bridge on my (stock) Pre-CBS Fender. And something that the machinist at work can probably replicate in half a day. With the exception of the chrome, but there's a chroming place within 30 minutes from me that does nice work.

I think the bridge on my P looks like that. It's under a cover, and I haven't had to adjust anything in so long that I don't remember now. I don't play it that much, so the strings haven't worn out.

There's two point bridges and then there's two point bridges. The two point on your VP is one thing. The two point on my EB-2 is another entirely. No stop bar, just a reliance on set screws that tighten against the studs to keep it from flopping over. Fortunately, it's another bridge that needs no attention once it's set up reasonably well.

...with set screws that self adjust mid song. And no set screw grooves on the bass to keep the barrels from shifting when you bend a note. And back plate string holes strategically located to force the E string to bend around the intonation screw. And parts that aren't chromed that like to rust. And I could go on, but at the end of the day they work and that's all that's really expected of them. Cheesy? Yes. Functional? Enough.At least this one has individual saddle height adjustment.

Now the Bab bridge on the other hand is by comparison an engineering marvel. But functionally speaking it does what it's supposed to do too. Cheesy? No. Functional? Yes. Expensive? Heck yes!
New two point with claw and existing three point are a nice middle ground. IMHO
We should all be happy that the choices are plentiful to satisfy our needs.

If the Epi Classic is any indication it should be a real nice bass at that price point. Way back when it was released I did lengthy written review of it, and was quite impressed with it, the definitive workingman's Thunderbird. From what I've seen and read from those that do already have (Canadians!) I think VP will continue what the Classic started - Yup, I'm excited!

LOL - Alembic has their "hippie sandwich" with all the laminated bodies and necks. I guess like everything else, Leo was the trail blazer with his "salami" Tort and "cheesy" bridge sandwich! Too funny
I wouldn't say "cheesy". They're even supposed to be "better" than the original 2 piece bridges of their forefathers. Personally... I would try it out for a while before deciding to replace it or not

I'm not trying to give you a hard time about it. I agree that Inverness green would be great to see. The last NR Gibson did came in Pelham blue. A reverse in Pelham would be great too. I wonder if the NR will turn that cool shade of green like the older ones did.
