I might be interested in that, Larry...

Is it one of those clear perspex ones with a silver hot stamp, and is it from a Gibson or an Epiphone?

That's exactly what it is but I do not know if it's Gibson or Epiphone. I'll post a pic with some measurements later this afternoon. I'm at work because Tahoes and Suburbans need roofs. :roflmao:

So... I got a Blackbird neck in a trade with Vaughn which I'm contemplating putting on my spare Goth, and have been thinking about a "color scheme" for it...

For now I will keep it flat black, but am thinking of making it an "Ironbird" (yes, I know BC Rich made a bass with that name) and got inspiration by German Iron Cross medals like these:

These are the color options I've come up with so far:

Personally I think the red/white stripe theme goes great with black hardware, and the black/white stripe theme goes great with chrome hardware - Not too sure about the red/white stripe theme and chrome, though...

I'll be doing a VVT setup (maybe with a 7ender TBX Tone pot) with either a 3-way toggle or a Kill-Switch, and an output jack on the side (as God intended) - Any suggestions I haven't considered, and should I do the color scheme with vinyl decals or paint?

I was thinking of getting some car racing stripes to do the mod, but most I've seen were all way too wide...

Also, at one point someone on EvilBay was selling Niki Sixx Blackbird PG decals, which would look great on the black PG - But I can't seem to find them anymore... Anyone by any accident have one of those laying around?

My opinion is:
#1 is really really cool
#2 is also really cool but I tend to lean toward #1
#3 is my least fav

And most definatly paint

The first one with black hardware looks best to me.

The chrome hardware with the red and white stripes don't work for me at all.

The chrome hardware with the black and white stripes would be my second best.

Larry votes the same way I would. I like them in the top to bottom order like laid out in the pic.

I think you have a great idea for making it uniquely yours. I can't help you with an iron cross sticker but I do have one of Larry's red Tbird logos if you wanted that.

It's so cheap though. If someone's any good at doing refins on their own, including fixing the forearm relief, this is a cheap way to a Greco TB II, IMO.

I believe the bass is missing the original pickup? I haven't seen a pickup like that in any of the other Greco Birds that I have seen, and I believe the pickup is a big part of the appeal of the Greco. But.........for the right price it could be a cool bass to refin and slap a replacement pickup in. The shipping cost helps push the price too high tho IMO.

I thought the pup looked wrong! Looks like an EB3 bridge pup

I have none of those issues with my TBirds but there are minds set in concrete.

I find on forums, when a lot of folks ask a question they already know what their answer is. There’s another “is Gibson’s QC crappy?” thread going on right now, but the intent isn’t to ask the question, but to affirm that they are correct in this assumption. When folks agree with a sample of one, anecdotal argument, they say “I know, right?!” But when you suggest your bass is awesome, the sample of one, anecdotal thing is called into question. In my case, I’ve owned 7 Gibson basses and as many guitars. I’d like to think that’s enough ‘data’ for me to have an opinion. I’ve had a consistently high QC rate, though certainly not a 100% rate. But we all enter into these things with a built in bias. I happen to love Gibson basses, so my bias might disqualify me from any such debate :)

Cool... You could always mail me a tracing, so I can compare that to the currenty PG...

Tahoes are cool cars... I have a collegue that has a black one... :)

I just emerged glorious and glistening from my morning shower to find a large box from Sweetwater in my living room. I wonder what's inside?

Try not to mess yourself!

You'll have to pop back into the shower :roflmao:

Definitely not the fit and finish of the EBMM's I've had experience with, but compared to Fender, I have a Jazz bass that the bridge pup was installed noticeably out of square

Tough choice Michael. I think they each have a unique thing going on.
