Why go lower in value during the 70's birds compared to the 250K on the 60's and most likely todays birds?

What's your reason for using 500k? The other components in the electrical circuit are spec'd to work with the properties of the specific pickup being used.

Using a 500k for a 60's Tbird tone pot almost turns it into a switch; full bass to full treble with less than a 1/4 turn. If that's what you're looking for a tone switch makes more sense than a pot.

My epiphone thunderbird was stock with all 500k pots, and most of the humbucker guitars i come across have 500k pots. Whereas the single coil guitars/basses have 250K so i've just assumed that 250k is better suited for single coils & 500K for humbuckers. I guess i'm just asking how different value pots react as you go higher or lower in the value.

Hi all,

Looking for a wee bit of help here.

I am in Scotland and ordered a flight case for my Thunderbird Classic - IV Pro. The case arrived this morning and is unfortunately too short for the Bass. I contacted the Company concerned and they will refund etc. I also sent photos of my

Bass to show the case is too short. On their website they show a Thunderbird in the case (picture Attached}, can anyone tell me what it is? It ain't an Epiphone or Gibson, maybe a Greco? are they shorter?

Any help appreciated on this.

Thanks for that. Well the case fits neither a standard Epiphone or the Classic pro. Ah well it is their problem not mine. Cheers for the help.

That is weird... The regular Vintage Sunbursts and the Limited edition TV Silver's are supposed to be the exact same bass with bolt-on neck, but different color schemes

I just bought a used epi t-bird pro. gonna mod the heck out of it. passive, single pickup! I like the Bridge on the pros better and the pickup is in 60s Position (3 1/4 inches from the fretboard!)

Might use an emg tb-hz or maybe a 60s replacement pickup from david barfuss.

gonna repaint in either vintage White or some Kind of surf green

I recently changed up my pedal board, too. Pics to follow when I get a current one. Since I'm running an older Pedalboard Mini, I had to top mount my Pedaltrain Volto, but it fits fine. I left the wiring for my One Spot on the board too so I can use that when practicing or rehearsing and plug in the Volto for live use. Now to set up I just turn on the Volto and run a single cable from my pedal board to my head. The board has (R-L) the Volto, TCE Polytune, Zoom MS-60B and EHX Bass Soul Food. I'm using the Zoom primarily as a compressor, although it does a ton of different stuff.

Picked up a VT Bass DI yesterday and altered my pedal board yet again...

The Thunderbird and the P-bass sound awesome through this into my practice amp in the basement. Taking it to run through the SVT tomorrow.

I've been using my Tech21 VT Pedal with my Epi Birds (and everything else, for that matter) all along. That is, when I'm not using my actual SVP-Pro preamps.
The VT does a great job of simulating that classic SVT sound.

I don't really have a pedal board cause i gotta dig for specific ones that'll give me what i need:

Chorus pedal (most likely a guitar one cause the bass ones don't suit me)
Whammy pedal (crazy stuff while soloing or even part of a song like Kings of leon)
Delay (no idea which yet, i gotta find time to test them all and see what i like)

All this plus my D.I mxr m80. But i may find another type of distortion/overdrive pedal for a gritty edge.

For a delay, may I recommend the Wampler Faux Tape Echo? It's the only pedal I've owned that I have HUGE regret for selling. And I've owned a PILE of pedals over the years.

Will take it into consideration (hopefully, my dealer can acquire some :P) Thanks Geoff, other recommendations are welcome to make my process go easier too xP Not really in a constricted budget as the pedals won't be for a little while i'm guessing ;D.
