I tried and tried to build a Modulus, but no matter what I do, they keep coming out like this:

Love that bass, I thought they were discontinued a couple of years ago. Easily the best sounding P bass I ever played, the stock pups are actually quite nice, even Fender can get it right sometimes.

I doubt it. I'm just not that interested. What has my attention though, is how here... in the Thunderbird Club... I state the obvious (that the Thunderbird is cooler than a Modulus)... you appear to be contesting that in some way...

So I had a visitor earlier. He left this 1990 Orville by Gibson Thunderbird. It has some seriously dead nickel Rotos on it and the neck pickup is sunk into the body. Tomorrow I'll put in new foam rubber, transplant the Thunderbucker 66S, get some fresh strings on it and see about lowering the action a touch. It's 200g lighter than the Epi, and before Mike asks, the neck is slim, but more substantial than the 'slim taper' necks.

Already has an abalone speed knob...

So I had a visitor earlier. He left this 1990 Orville by Gibson Thunderbird. It has some seriously dead nickel Rotos on it and the neck pickup is sunk into the body. Tomorrow I'll put in new foam rubber, transplant the Thunderbucker 66S, get some fresh strings on it and see about lowering the action a touch. It's 200g lighter than the Epi, amd before Mike asks the neck is slim, but more substantial than the 'slim taper' necks.

Already has an abalone speed knob...

Well THAT'S a silly thing to say! This is Scott Effin' Dasson we're talkin' about here! The guy seems to know his way around a T-bird pretty well Though there is something to be said for personalization... I'm thinkin' yer gonna be pretty pleased with it, the way he brings it to you!

Scott's first clue should've been Mike talking about his big lumberjack hands or something to that effect referencing his overt manliness. Very desirable in a "partner".

Congratulations! Beautiful bass. How come I never have visitors that bring me basses?

I always wanted one of these or a Greco. I'm a sucker for Japanese lawsuiy gear. I have a 77 Aria "Precise" bass, plays and sounds as good as any Fender

I had an Ibanez (they did at least two different models), it was okay, but not any in the same ballpark as a Greco or Orville. But, like Scott's Destroyer the did make a much nicer version at one point.......Rare Bird.

I have owned the Destroyer since '76 and almost immediately set out making it "better " of course not even thinking that it might be rare. If I found one today I would definitely leave it alone.

I have owned the Destroyer since '76 and almost immediately set out making it "better " of course not even thinking that it might be rare. If I found one today I would definitely leave it alone.

I think George (OldmanC) on LBO had posted pictures of an Ibanez that was nothing like mine, I really like all that Lawsuit era stuff a lot, The Bass Shop had one of those long scale V's for awhile, so cool!
