I hope this isn't true. I've made the change throughout our home lighting, interior and exterior.

I've been doing that for a few years now too. I'm gonna put incandescents in the fixtures I use most, and leave LEDs outside, and where momentary lighting is the norm (hallway, closet, bathroom, etc.)

I dunno. I think computer screens are killing my eyesight a whole lot more than LED lighting could. It also depends upon the light temperature of the specific LED. Some are cold white, some are much warmer.

That looks fantastic. Way, way overkill for what I am likely to need (100 watts, maybe, and DI), but overkill is always better. There was an Acoustic 320 head for about $425 shipped floating around, too. I know about those, but 1900 watts? Who can resist! And 30 lbs is lighter than a 320 by about ten pounds.

Seems like a good deal, and coming from the recommendation of Gbass.

It's probly a scam initiated by a consortium of CFL makers.

That looks fantastic. Way, way overkill for what I am likely to need (100 watts, maybe, and DI), but overkill is always better. There was an Acoustic 320 head for about $425 shipped floating around, too. I know about those, but 1900 watts? Who can resist! And 30 lbs is lighter than a 320 by about ten pounds.

CArvin is out of business these days. So be carful. If it needs work, you'd need to find a technician.

Dang... LED iPhones, LED computer screens and TV's and home lighting. It's a shock that I can see anything at all out of these eyes of mine.

I played through one a couple times. Sweet amp, thick rich sound, tons and tons of power. Built like a tank. Very highly recommended.

Dang... LED iPhones, LED computer screens and TV's and home lighting. It's a shock that I can see anything at all out of these eyes of mine.

If I had to guess... I'd say all these techno-lifestyle changes/advancements, are probably why an issue exists now. Some LED light, mixed with a healthy dose of natural and incandescent light is ok... but when the natural and incandescent lighting is replaced with more & more LED, new problems surface.

Unfortunately that's the case with a lot of classic high power amps these days. Sadowsky SA200, Musicman HD150, Vintage Acoustic, Kustom, Sunn....
The good news is the Carvin amps were popular enough it shouldn't be hard to find a tech capable of doing routine work on one. The better news is, at a $350 purchase price if something goes really wrong down the road that might cost hundreds to fix you could just pitch it and buy something else if you wanted.

I already have a Carvin class D combo (MB12), and it's been reliable so far. I don't see Carvin's lack of continued existence as a manufacturer of amps any scarier than the fact that Acoustic Control is gone.

Another interesting option is the Mesa Boogie Buster. Its tube (which I thought you were steering clear of) but it's small wedge shape is great for stage volume facing you and the drummer while you DI out....

You will have to forgive me for being skeptical. Until I know what that article's author is all about, what kinds of influences the publication has, and who might benefit from the article's publication and how, I'm going to take it with a grain of salt. I'm not saying everything there may eventually be borne out experimentally. I'm just skeptical and won't be replacing any light bulbs just yet.
