The owner needs to remove that top screw from the pickguard. If he does it soon he'll probably have the only vintage NR bird without a broken guard at the top screw hole. But from the way the guard looks like it's bowing he better do it real soon.

or something like thatI'm not convinced, wood doesn't shrink along it's length only across the grain and mostly in the plane of the annular rings. If wood moved along it's length every bass over 5 years old would be near impossible to intonate (actually that isn't quite true but it's movement along the grain is really minimal <0.1%). The photo shows more movement across the width so I'll accept some movement given your location in humid Florida (wood has expanded in the moist air) but there is some movement front to back too so surely the PG material must have moved a little?The PGs do not shrink. Then again, maybe the neck heavy design of the bird pulled the guard down. It's either that or maybe the guard has the same self destruct feature as the TBird headstocks. Those morons at Gibson, can't design anything right, it's Henry's fault!
BTW - if you get a chance Google some images of 1968 Fender Telecaster pickguard off gassing damage and count your blessings the TBird doesn't have those problems.

That reminds me, I need to take a picture of the new Dingwall Dbird with both my Subaru Outback and our brand new Subaru Ascent. The Dbird is grey, but both Subies are white!
