Thunderbird Club

34,5".

Nooo no not a Yard trunk whatever sale. Got it via ebay kleinanziegen (like craigslist in Germany) from an old guy who bought it used in 81. He played it for a few years and then changed over to guitar. it was ignored for like 20 years until he decided it needed to be played and sold it for 1000€ less then the regular Price in Germany for an RD Artist would be. lucky me.

Sounds like a super deal to me - May I ask how much you paid for it?

...and now for some new strings in the right scale... ;)

850€ plus the fuel for 500km of driving to take it.

yeah just threw some "played in" rotos on it (Bridge mouted), looking if i can get "my" strings in xtra Long (la bella deep talkin rounds)

That's more than a good deal - it's an extraordinary good deal to me!

Congratulations on such a cool and "rare" bass - You don't see them often for sale here in Europe, :)

So those are regular long scale Roto's not going through the bridge?

FWIW, I used DR Highbeams on my RD and strung it thru the body. Plenty of length on those strings. I would think most brands would easily accommodate the extra 1/2" of scale length plus stringing thru the body on these basses. Of course if you use strings removed from another bass then that changes things a bit. ;)

Sweet RD bass! Building the one for my friend is pretty knarly (based off the RD standard - reduced body size by 10%, 34" scale, gotoh bridge, p/j config alder-maple-rosewood, bolt on) I was considering making my own Artist version (with some EMGs & a 3 band EQ), but the body doesn't seem right for me - im just too used to the bigger tbird shape.

Speaking of which here's my new bird
