Happy Thanksgiving !

Now pls explain to me what the .... is this Black Friday stuff I’m being spammed by??? :)

Only really noticed it the last year or two but all our major retailers are in on the act as well. I assume because of online shopping.

(I’m just about to leave for work, coming up towards 6:30am here.)

What??? wait - are you saying the whole world doesn't celebrate (our) Thanksgiving day? (excerpt from the book "The Ugly American")

We had a dill of an aspiring politician recently floating “we should have Thanksgiving”.

All about $ - the logic goes like this; Thanksgiving is always on a Thursday (fluctuating dates) so many people are off (work) on Friday and it creates what is becoming more and more popular here - "a long weekend". (3 day weekend) Well, why in the world would anyone having a day off want to do anything else but shop? Hence "Black Friday". (Black?...who knows) Having it assimilated into popular "holiday" events - happy Americans joyfully claw each other out of the way to be first inside the temples of 'good deal stuff'. (people have been trampled to death in this ritual)

Needless to say, many people go out of their way to NOT buy anything that day, me being one of them.

Not celebrating Thanksgiving...

Years ago, Thanksgiving was a day to visit with family, eat a glorious meal, and take time to get ready for the coming holidays. Now it’s another commercial holiday where everyone is encouraged to spend money on stuff they really don’t need. I for one think the whole Black Friday thing is a crock of ...

Maybe it's just my family, but we really like Thanksgiving because we can be with each other and have that great meal.
Regarding the shopping, we don't do that stuff, no trips to Walmart or anything like that - Happily.

Hope you all are having a wonderful day with your loved ones.

The Black in B.F. refers to many stores being 'in the black' after the big "sale" day. The ones who are 'in the red' have a "going out of business" sale. What really bites about "Black Friday", is if you run outta something-like T.P. and hafta go fight the madness to be able to wipe your....er...nose.;)

@Gaolee Did you ever post pics of that build?

I don't remember seeing it, but I've been pretty distracted with non-bass related things this year.
I did at some point. I couldn't begin to tell you when that was. It's red, and otherwise looks exactly like you would expect. I don't even know what I did with the pictures. More are in order when I think of it.

With some chambering it could be rendered lighter, and I'd for sure request one w/o the two bridge post holes & 3 smaller holes...
No kidding! If you are going to build a Fenderbird, there are better bridges to put on than a 3-point. I don't mean a bent metal plate, either.

Home brew... I'm hoping Epoxy will garner me forgiveness in the world of physics and sound woodworking.

I'm not worrying about ghosting the Jazz rout yet, it's not in the way, and I don't believe it's critical. Also the rendering there of my fav cat, Sadie, which is placed perched playfully upon that pickup, will need to be moved to a new spot on the bass.

Anyhow, as I said, baby steps...

Epoxy is right there with duct tape and safety wire in the pantheon of useful substances.

Black because that's the day retailers figure they will be "in the black," ie profitable, for the year. Turning the day into a big shopping and sale day is one of those things that keeps me proud of my cultural backwardness and illiteracy. I will absolutely, positively, not participate.

Ah, Gone Plaid beat me to it. He didn't use his middle initial, either. Dammit.
