I've been on a Dusty jag of late - Dusty and Bowie's Blackstar and Scott Walker. They are all related in that beautiful and strange way.

Yep - sounds similar. Because the city of Chicago is right on Lake Michigan, winds rush through the skyscrapers like canyons and dead umbrellas litter the streets when it's windy. Walking at a 45% angle becomes just something you do to move about.

I was in the army and was in Germany for a short time in the 80s. There were spies everywhere; some easy to recognize.
A few years later, a friend reclassified to intelligence wanting to be James Bond. 6 months later said it was a terrible mistake. No cloak and dagger stuff; always operating though informants.

I can see the disappointment.
Wearing the Bird way down low suddenly, and it's very relaxing ...and easy to play for my apparently recently injured wrist. Must be overworked, I just noticed some kind of painful sensation in my left wrist at last Friday's gig. Anyway this new, über-rocker posture seems to be the new place to be for it. And I'll give it to the design of this beauty, it totally works for the rest of my playing parts as well! Right arm is only bent a little, left hand doesn't travel out of the comfort zone. There's the small matter of a different location and path to find/get to notes on the neck, a simple problem solved with practice.
I'm telling you man, I should have had one of these 40 years ago. So glad I've got one now.

After graduating, a couple of college friends went to work for one of the three letter agencies. No one saw them for a couple of years, and rarely after that. They both changed pretty drastically- walled off, no ready humor, very quiet.
Not surprising in retrospect, but still tough to see.

I hear you, longtime Bowie fan here as well - just hadn't popped for Blackstar yet. As he was a big fan of SW, I definitely hear his influence on it. Nite Flight (79) just arrived and it's pretty interesting - 70's eclectic. The title song is the most cutting-edge for it's time - very modern rock/shades of disco with a great piano doubled bassline. That Bowie did it in the early 90's abet some re-shaping showed its solidness as a song not tied to its era.
