Sure, he lived a live that's full, to quote Paul Anka, but still shocking - he was kind of a rockstar version of my father.
Really sad. I loved him in Hawkwind. Him and geezer were it for me in the 70s and probably the reason I picked up a bass in the first place back in the 70s.

He was like a grandfather to me... Maybe because I relate to my grandfather more, but similar sentiment, I'm venturing (reference to Offbeat's comment here). Being a bass player suddenly gave my life definition as soon as I picked it up, and Lemmy's ethic was the one to mark. Mean it or screw it.
I know I brought my son (who plays guitar in the band) up right. He just came in and said, "No way! Lemmy's dead".
Because after a day like today, you can't have enough good humor
"Killed by Death" as we all knew he would be eventually.
In the spirit of it all, and with a reference back to a previous pic/post, here's a better shot of my basement:
R.I.P. Lemmy, one of the greats! He's one of the people that made me want a rickenbacker bass for a long time, but couldn't afford one. My dad bought me a copy back in 2011. Made by logical guitars & every colour is a different name: Mine is actually called Lemmy. It's solid & that 51 pbass style bridge pickup nails motorhead with distortion perfectly!
This just in, from the other side! Ronnie(RJD) has officially welcomed Lemmy home!

Been thinking about this, with all the building i will be doing in my life, & that i'll have 2 reverse birds, i think i'll design a non-reverse bird with 3 pickups. Thinking of using a set of Lemmy's Sig Seymour Duncan pickups. But its really just an idea.
