Thunderbird Club

It kinda sounds like the higher output from the Tbird might be part of the issue. How high (close to the strings) are your pickups?

The pick-ups were indeed too close.

I lowered them back down to Gibson factory settings (Invalid Link Removed) and it has a noticeable impact on the output. I got the bass off the locals about a year ago, so the original owner either got the bass set-up that way or he brought the pick-ups closer to the strings himself.

Additionnal benefit: adjusting them instantly took away that annoying clicky sound I was getting in the last week when playing with a pick. I shoulda seen that, thx for steering me that way :).

EDIT: I really like this thread, you guys are always very helpful.

It looks like it's got some metallic quality to it. Nice.

There's another one out there...

It is indeed metallic...

I need to clean up around the neck some, glue and paint the neck shim, and add some of @Count Bassie 's legendary Magic Mikes Mahogany butt plugs for the old bridge holes. The classic vibe hi mass bridge setup very nice
This is definitely at the top of my list of all-time favorite 32" conversion neck builds.

So yesterday I bought some two part epoxy and glued in the two bridge ferrels. Packaging said twenty minutes and 24 hours so I weighted four hours amd started putting parts on. Strung it up with some old but hardly used GHS Boomers and tuned her up. DAMN!:woot: This has some boom! She needs a good setup though and I have to run up to GC for some knobs because the ones that were on it were hidious.

A nes PG is needed and will be ordered soon, I am way behind on the pickguard, knobs and a setup and she will be ready for her debut.
