The price is great, and it appears to be a 2013. If I didn't already have four burst Thunderbirds, I would be very interested. Ah, who am I fooling - I am interested, but I spent a whole lot of money on stuff I needed for work so it's out of the question. If anybody here is interested, I'm local enough to help out.

If ever i buy more thunderbirds in the future for sure there's a White Classic pro (which will be chromed out for sure keeping the original pickups just under chrome covers, & maybe a Active Pro in burst. Always loved that finish. But i'm pretty sure that my main bass will be my tigerbird, i can already taste the juicy tones it'll give me in studio & live!

The upper strap button on the bolt-on is now where it belongs at the heel of the neck. I was surprised at how easy it was to drill through the neck plate. Now it balances like a Gibson. It is bone stock otherwise, and I'm wondering why Epiphone doesn't charge more for them. Not that I'm complaining! The Dimarzio One pickup mod may happen. I'm still debating that a bit. It sure would be a different kind of animal with that pickup in it.

It's not hard to drill thru the neck plate at all. Just apply pressure when you start and it will go right thru with no problem. I still debate installing my Model One into the neck position of the Epi. Can't make myself commit to the mod yet tho.

It didn't need much pressure. I guess that's an aluminum plate. Pot metal at the toughest.

My EB-2 has a Model One, and it's an amazing sounding bass. A 'Bird with one of those in the sweet spot would sound a whole lot different from an EB-2 with the pickup right up by the end of the neck. Plus there's the long scale/short scale thing. It's still probably worth doing. I haven't decided if I'm going to build a template and go for it or if I'll chicken out and take it to a luthier. Probably Mike Lull. He's crazy enough to do it. It wouldn't be cheap, but it would be well done. Leaving it alone is probably not going to happen. The 2015 will stay stock, but I don't see much point in anything else staying that way.

Checking in from BEAUTIFUL San Diego. It appears that I ducked the whole storm that crushed home last week. Did Mom's burial and memorial service, which was quite nice given the reason for it. The plus side is that my brother and I hit Bass San Diego, Carvin/Kiesel, the brand spankin new Sam Ash, and several others on last Thursday. There are many more TBirds here than their are in Nashville at this time...and a lot of other cool stuff I don't see there too: several Bongos, Kubicki Factor, PRS Kingfisher, and lots of others. The common-as-dirt Bumper P's and J's and PJ's are everywhere too. But I bet there's a good 20 TBirds or sale in this county.
