Excellent! One has been sitting in a Pawn near me for a long time. Much as I’ve wanted to get it, I know I’d rarely play it. But they are cool with a unique sound. Enjoy!

I have a 1st reissue. Bought it in the 90's sometime. Think I paid $279 new for it. It's a little rocker!

Well waddayaknow.... For a little little over a year now, I tried selling a bass to help fund a TBird purchase. No dice, ridiculous lowball offers when any offer at all. I end up buying my 'Bird last week and finally sell my bass today, exactly at the same hour I got the 'Bird same day last week. I wanted to sell then buy, but seemingly the right way to do it is buy, then pray for a quick sale after. So I had it backwards, after all. What do I know, eh....

You were well and truly chosen then. The 'Bird threw the other one out of the nest.

I like DR High Beams and Black Beauties. Can't go wrong with either one IMO. Lately I have been replacing strings with Ken Smith Burners or Rock Masters. Those work very well with Thunderbirds.
Out of curiosity, do you know if the BBs are basically a coated version of the High Beams or completely different? How much difference in sound can you tell, if any? Was also looking at the KS
strings; I know some here mention them from time to time, including our Queen.

I am attracted to those because of the weird factor.
Yep, you gotta love weird. They aren't pretty per se, but they have an undeniable cool factor. It helps too that they sound really good and are super versatile. I've been playing with it - there are a LOT of tones in this weirdo new bass of mine. Hey, didn't I say I was done buying basses because of my imminent retirement. Oh well. :smug:

Congratulations! I had a Korean-made Dano DC Bass. It was really fun. Incredibly light and really narrow string spacing.

Not sure yet what I’ll do. Short term, I’ll see how it turns out with the three point back on. I love the Babicz on the ‘15, but may try a Hipshot. One or the other if the three point has to go.
lemme know, i’ll happily send you this, got no use for it..

KS Bass Burners for the win!

I haven't had Black Beauties in my bird in about a year. I might have to go back to them for a spell. Or give SITs a try. So many strings, so many basses, so many possible combinations... I have at 6 bases and at least 5 preferred strings. So, is that 6*5? 30 possibilities? Sounds right...

IIRC, the core wire is the same as highbeams and the wrap wire is coated.

Plug one in and you'll be very surprised how good they sound.

Weird seems to be a plus amoungst Thunderbird players. Not so much elsewhere.
