Thunderbird Club

It's nice to hear that you have access to all of those TBirds to try. That's cool! I'd say try them all and find the one that sounds/feels the best and just go with it. Let the bass pick you.

As for lefty TBirds, they do exist but they're rarer than hen's teeth so if you find one, snag it!

I'm curious, are you planning on playing the TBird right handed or are you going to get a new nut cut and flip the bass over?
also: I love the feel of the Gibson 2015, but for a third of the price I like the Epi Classic Pro IV....

The 2015 and all the others mentioned couldn't be more different. If that's the one you like, then the other ones won't give you what that bass is capable of. I know they're quite a bit more expensive but they do show up used quite often. Heck my local Craigslist has one for $1,500 that has me very interested. I'm fighting the urge. Lol

Larry V, thanks again for your input, I'm in Melbourne, Australia and the 2013 50th Anniv si $2999 and the 2015 is $2499, the Epiphone Pro IV Classic is $879...Unfortunately, I haven't found any locally second hand.

Actually, if he bought a right-handed NonReverse and flipped it (with new nut) he'd have a regular TBird.... sort of? ;)

Gooday Mate,

I'm a righty and seek a lefty bird, right before I took my Pro IV in for upgrades, just for grins I flipped her left side and was astonished at how well she sat on my leg, then I held her by the contour and she was perfectly balanced, I thought; just get a lefty bird and problem solved! right? WRONG LOL Like the man said "rarer than hens teeth" I envy the southpaw savouring the absolute abundance of righty birds, so many birds, so little time..

Basically all the T-birds you mention are pretty nice...

The 50th Anniversary is a great playing and sounding bass, which might actually be an investment sometime in the future.

The Epi Classic Pro IV is probably the best value for money you can buy - It's built "almost" identically as the Gibson (9-ply neckthrough), has the same neck width, the same Gibson TB+ pickups as the 2013/2014 models has, and sound identically - All this at a fraction of the price of a Gibson, and it comes in glorious Alpine White, which is a pretty sexy color for a T-bird! :)

An alternative thought since you plan on playing it upside-down: Why not get you hands on a Non-Reverse Thunderbird? When you flip it over it would "almost" look like a reverse T-bird... ;)

They were a Limited Edition and they did not sell. I got mine on clearance for less than $225 delivered. :woot:

I almost did, I ordered one from GC November 2014 when they had them at $199. Placed the order in the morning and by late afternoon I had an email that there was a problem.
I called them and was informed that they had no stock to fill the order! I expressed my complete dissatisfaction with the whole transaction and in good faith, to make me happy,
ended up with an Epi EB3 for $225. Took a bit of haggling to get there but, I was a happy customer in a couple days. :)

Too much? No such thing. ;)

My TV Silver has all its clings still on her. I'm torn on whether to keep her and for now she hangs on the wall as art.

What Larry says: There is no such thing as too many Thunderbirds...

You should hang on to that TV Silver, Larry! :)

To my ears there's no difference between it and my Goth.

I haven't had mine plugged in yet, so I can't testify to this, but am sure Larry's right... ;)

I got mine on clearance as well - Offer was way too good to pass, so I had to have it for the collection. :D

I was hoping the price would go up... seems that will take awhile.

Yup, same boat.
