Thunderbird Club

It was. I sold it years ago because it never sounded right. In reality, I love how others can get a Jazz to sound, but I never get them beyond the, "It sounds pretty good" level. Not great or fantastic like the Thunderbird or even a Precision for that matter.

My fav G&L is the L2000. A mid 90's one.

I have two G&Ls. Since I have four Thunderbirds and the old Embassy they don't get first call. But they are very nice.

Beautiful Redburst with natural binding. Likely the best looking bass I own. I need to work on a pic that does it justice.

This is BABE Limited edition with K wiring (single coil option). Nice Ebony FB.

I am so happy with my upgraded Epi Classic Pro that I just dont feel the need to get another T-Bird. That is my nature: 1 of each type of bass that I like - a really good example of it. I was never one to collect more than 1 of ANY type of bass - just not my nature. Is there something wrong with me? Lol!
On an unrelated note, I just came back from my local CVS, and the store was only allowing 10 people in at a time. I had to wait on a short line outside standing in a 6 foot spaced, duct taped box outside. It's getting very crazy on Long Island. Is it like that across the US?

This is my T2K Mk II - (Tele 2000) Started out as an '06 CIJ '51P RI - bought it new. (in garish mustard colour) Reconfigured it with G&L L-2000 9v pre and MFD pu's, custom '70s style pg, Fender big-plate pops, GHS Progressives, Hipshot string-thru bridge with large barrel ferules (as on the orig '51P), added belly-bevel, brass nut, late '60s Tele bass decal, bound body and 2 colour (trans brown/piano black) finish by Marty Bell /SoCal. It's a bit heavy (ash - 10lbs/2oz) but I plan to do some 'chambering' under the pg to lighten it. May be able to get it in the 9lb/9oz vicinity - it would really help as it is its only drawback. Like all L-2000's - it does it all.

Yes, i remember this one. So love this bass!

It's been in storage for awhile and I just retrieved it yesterday for lightening. I used it a lot at one point with a faux country band I was in, and played it for one live Bond Girl outdoor gig. It's active but the passive setting is very good also - there's not a bad setting choice on it. I've got a few active basses and the L-2000 is my favorite onboard pre-amp. I've been favoring passive basses the last few years so they have been getting neglected. It's fun playing it again.

So, I had never bought a new bass and decided I would. Always had a crush on Thunderbirds, from Nikki Sixx to Kim Gordon.

She’s really pretty. I should not have been surprised by the difference in quality from my other two (one is an upgraded, late 80’s BC Rich, and the other is a higher end BC Rich from the late 2000’s), but I was. The Epi Vintage Pro’s reputation was no joke.

I’ve been trying to figure out strings. The stock ones are good, but missing something. I tried Fat Beams and Roto 66’s, but they didn’t do it. Boomers are next on the list, and exposed core are a temptation also.

Not everywhere.
Funny(?)sighting. Woman at Walmart. Wearing a mask. OK. Stopped to talk to a WM employee. Pulled mask down below her chin to talk. WT7!:jawdrop:

If you ever decide to let it go................. But i know you won't. :)

Not yet but I'm hopeful although considering the availability or a lack there of a vintage EB PU, this would most likely have to do..

I have a mudbucker, a Model One, and a bolt-on Epi. The experiment will happen eventually. I just don't know when.

Good luck with the band, they can indeed be a "relationship", I think the ones that are the most fun to be in ( and conversely, possibly the worst)have this element, it's really nice when every leaves the ego at home!
I like John Taylor's playing immensely, "Hungry like the Wolf" needs the drums to be correct for the bass to work correctly - Taylor is cool because of what he sometimes doesn't play. With a two pick up 'Bird I like to back off the neck pick up just a little and dime the bridge - Perfect for Taylor's work, a little less bass and a bit of 'burp.
For the most part these days, my best friends are people I have been in bands with.

I hate owning basses that I don't play - playing it again reminded me of this. For the foreseeable future it is still one that I consider 'my bass' - but the way things are going who knows what tomorrow will bring.
