I like the 50th anniversary a lot!! Sounds similar to my 2001 ebony Bird, but different enough to have it's own character. It is my lightest Bird by far!!

So the 50th is your ligthest bird, which is the heaviest?

Either the red Warmoth or the Goth refin, but I don't remember exactly. They are even heavier than the Epi NR's. The BlackBird and the ebony Bird weighed exactly the same, about 8.5 lbs IIRC.

I have an Epi thunderbird body that's been laying around for a long time that I've been meaning to do something with. It was the body from the Goth model. I sanded it and then primed it white, then sanded it again so the black shows through at parts. I might leave it that way if I ever decide to do anything with it.

edit: My dad must've gotten bored one day and sanded half of it down to the wood.

I've had Black Beauties on several types of basses with different pickups. Never noticed a hum of any type.

I have DR Red Devils on my Goth Thunderbird…no hum at all.

I guess that would look nice with the black color scheme of the Goth...

I have red FretLights on mine which look pretty cool - maybe I should try adding Red Devils as well...

I figured you only had 4 stands from the photos, when I saw your Photobucket pictures and saw the one picture with all 5 birds on it, with the Goth in front of the others without a stand...

Weird... Looks like the 3-point bridge has been repositioned at one point, or drilled wrongly too close to the bridge pickup and then moved to the correct position. Also it appears the jack has been torn out as well, leaving a big gaping hole on the lower body wing - there's a bit of body repair ahead for you...

I considered filling them at one point but I'll probably just leave them. I just gotta decide what type of neck to put on it. Acquiring other parts is gonna be a slow process though.

Neck wise you could do anything pretty much. Either fender styled, an epi thunderbird neck or custom built warmoth neck just to name a few. If it were me, i'd plug up the huge strat jack hole and the 3 extra bridge holes to close to the bridge. But that's me.

You can go the "Fenderbird" route but you may have to rout-out the neck pocket a bit. Lots of used parts for T-birds on ebay.

Love 'em all, but that Goth on the left is still one of my favorites of yours. You did a great job on the finish, especially considering it was a first time DIY... and a metallic. That thing plays and sounds HUGE.
