Thunderbird Club

I like the looks and functionality of it but as opposed to plugging directly into my bass (where it's sure to get wacked into and broken) I'd Velcro it to my strap then use a 12" one of these cables for the bass output jack...

And connect the cable and the G10 with one of these couplers...

Problem solved for under 10 bucks.

Good point. I do like the idea that it charges right in the receiver, just pop it in after every set and you know it's always good to go.

Just a followup (I forgot to ask in my previous post)... Those of you with the G30, do you only use one transmitter or do you have two or more?
I have two transmitters. No problem switching between them; I turn off the one I need to change, hang that bass back on my cool new Hercules double stand, turn on the 2nd one, go back to rockin' my face off.

Just bought a Hercules double stand as well, much better than a regular stand for a 'bird.
Hated spending the money, but after I got it delivered, it seems so heavy and solid, and the basses hang so nice, I'm thinking I need another!

You may hate me for this, but I got a nice hook up on it. Because I hang out in and spend what I can in my local shop (and promote them all I can) they take good care of me. When they signed up with Hercules, they got a buy in special on their pricing. They did me right. It pays to do business locally if ya can. :D

I went with a rechargeable Shure digital wireless to avoid the whole battery issue. It's just paranoia on my part. Paranoia means I always have a spare cable in case the wireless falters, too.

My paranoia goes as far as always bringing a spare bass, spare guitar, two sets of wireless units (one for guitar and one for bass - both interchangeable), spare wireless cables and a regular 30' cable - So far I've had guitars fail on me twice during sound check and one transmitter cable during performance...

I wear 2 condoms.

View attachment 856080 CHROMES: TOO TAME?

I put some D'Addario CHROMES on my Epi T-Bird Pro-IV. I thought I had an idea of what I was in for. I was not prepared for the difference it made.

I feel like it totally took the growl and intensity out of the bass. (Perhaps you all are saying 'duh'!).

Anyone use chromes on their bird? If so, thoughts?

Thx

Smart thinking! Never crossed my mind! But I'm slow like that, it's a good thing breathing is an involuntary action or I'd be in trouble! ;)

Our guitar player uses the G30 and loves it. He bought an extra pack for changing guitars. It's not totally needed, but does help for sure. I use a Samson and it's been 100% dependable. I got it used for $100 a few years ago and haven't looked at anything except the Line6. I like the pack as I worry about the 1/4" transmitter falling out. It hasn't, but it enters my mind.

Invalid Link Removed

I used a Samson back in the 80's and for the most part it worked very well, hardest part was keeping batteries on-hand. Unfortunately, after my band was "Retired" I packed some of my stuff away where it sat for years and I had stupidly forgot to remove the 9-volt from the transmitter for my Samson, when I did have a look at it a few years later, battery leaked all inside the transmitter, end of my Samson wireless. :(

You have a major problem, then, because stainless and Birds go together like one good thing and another good thing that goes together.

Speaking of strings...

When I got my Dillion bird, I had a set of D'addario xl nickels here, so I put those on, but my thought from tHe beginning was it needs stainless.

I was going to order some Dunlop super brights once these start to wear out, but juststrings has a deal that ends today on SIT Rock Brights, it's a bogo free, so 2 sets for $26.

Any opinion on which would be better, looking for the typical tbird growly sound.

Ps if anyone is looking for the SIT deal, it's not on the website, I'm on the mailing list and you have to order the set and put in the comments about the free set, max 2 freebies.
