Speaking of cables, I'm having a problem with the output jack on my 1991. It doesn't appear to be the garden variety Switchcraft jack. I'm thinking it's a threaded barrel jack. Can anybody confirm what that thing is so I don't end up with a drawer full of jacks that don't fit?

Yes, it's a barrel jack (at least I think it is). Buy one by Switchcraft and you won't have any future problems.

One been running a Line 6 G30 for almost 2 years now. It gets a consistent 6 hours out of a good set of AA batteries. I just grab a multi-pack of alkaline or lithium (of they're on sale) about once a month or so.

Yep, I like my G30 too, I try to use rechargables at rehearsal and alkalines at shows so I don't have to bring the charger along.

This has me curious now. I had my sights set on a G50 but that's another $150 above the price of a G30, so it hasn't been in the budget yet. Hearing favorable comments on the G30 is making
me rethink my position now. Any complaints drawbacks on the G30? My Nady was soon collecting dust after I bought it.

I went with a rechargeable Shure digital wireless to avoid the whole battery issue. It's just paranoia on my part. Paranoia means I always have a spare cable in case the wireless falters, too.

The new PRA Audio wireless got a great (thoughtful) review from BP magazine. I have no connection with the company, and I'm passing this along as the unit sounds promising. Easy to use (almost idiot-proof), compact, works great, rechargeable batteries (both receiver and transmitter) with very long life between charges. I have not used it, so this is all second-hand. Priced at $300, which seems reasonable. More at PRA Audio Systems – High fidelity wireless audio gear for the serious musician

Mine has been great, I have no complaints whatsoever, it doesn't alter my tone, very simple to use. I've heard some complain about the battery access door (perhaps they've redesigned the newer ones?) but mine has been fine. I love the freedom on a big stage! I only have transmitter/receiver set and again, it's be quite reliable but I do always bring some cables in my kit bag as a backup.

Thanks for the feedback Mark. Sincerely appreciated.

Our guitar player uses the G30 and loves it. He bought an extra pack for changing guitars. It's not totally needed, but does help for sure. I use a Samson and it's been 100% dependable. I got it used for $100 a few years ago and haven't looked at anything except the Line6. I like the pack as I worry about the 1/4" transmitter falling out. It hasn't, but it enters my mind.

You guys see the new G10? Looks pretty cool!

Line 6 Relay G10
I like the looks and functionality of it but as opposed to plugging directly into my bass (where it's sure to get wacked into and broken) I'd Velcro it to my strap then use a 12" one of these cables for the bass output jack...

And connect the cable and the G10 with one of these couplers...

Problem solved for under 10 bucks.

Got behind a bit here... Went to my Wing Chun (style of Kung Fu) class 2 weeks ago and took a low kick to my fretting hand, breaking off a piece of bone down at the base knuckle, hence rendering my life music-less for the next 2 months.

The following week I incurred some kind of a flu-like virus that kept me out of work for the subsequent week... So far... Still haven't kicked the virus, but I did pick up my Bird last night.

On the lighter side I picked up a Yamaha PB-1 preamp from a friendly TBer here, and Lenore, my lil' Bird, has found her mate. So it hasn't been all bad! Just mostly. But things change!!

Thumbs up!!
