Thunderbird Club

'64 Yah, I never really noticed that but it is original. If you look at @dagrev's post on the last page you can see his '64 tr cover has the same gap. The other thing I didn't notice till more recently was how the bone nut was spaced. That's when I decided to replace it with a brass nut. Of course I have the original safely stored away for providence sake along with other original bits and bats.

Plastic risers for both covers, tug-bar and strap pegs. SX-70 shot the day I got it in '78. I have both covers stored away - I'll have to pull them out to take a pic. Also have the original white plastic pg in VGC and the OHSC.

I swapped saddles when I installed Scotts Badbird bridge. You can see the originals are taller. (one on the left)

Removed brass mute and original felt mute-pads in VGC. I still have the mute from my stollen '63 also but it didn't have the pads when I got it in '74.

Interesting! I guess that was just a thing back then.

The spacing on the new nut for my RNR has the E and G a little closer to the edges of the fretboard than the stock one on my Reverse. Not sure if either or neither is more correct. The luthier definitely did some stuff more "properly" for a left-handed bass than Gibson does, like properly-oriented volume pots.

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Thanks Ken! HNY to you! It appears that the '70s Centennial birds have tr covers that touch the nut (can I say that Paul?) - again, as seen on @dagrev's white '76.

As long as you’re comfortable playing the bass the nut, it’s correct. I like the spacing between the edge of the board and the outer strings to be consistent.
