Thunderbird Club

I had a ton of fun dialingin distortion on the MXR M85...and as soon as I got it in the band context it just disappeared under a high gain guitar tone and a 4X12 cabinet. I ended up dialing the distortion WAY back, so now it's like an OD with a bad attitude. That pedal is wild; MXR makes great stuff.

There are a few things I still want. I've decided that multi-effect units like the MS60B are too hard to program for live use, so I wanna get some separate effects: the MXR bass chorus and the TCE Bass Compressor. Compressors to me are set em and forget em, so the dinky footprint of that pedal is cool. I'm fascinated by the Tone Print technology; it's kinda mind blowing how it works.

Hey all! Been away for awhile, but have been lurking from time to time. Thought I share the next step i customizing my Tbird!

I use a LINE6 Basspod, not for effects so much as being able to create a separate home for each bass allowing for the eccentricities and it has some great amp models, I typically use an Acoustic 360 model for most of my basses.
If you want, you can use a real 360 one of these days. Schlepping it out of the basement where it's the practice amp from hell is a chore, but it sure does sound great with a 'Bird. Or the new one that lives on the first floor because it gets out to play about once a month, give or take. More take this year. Those big ol' folded horns have their drawbacks and limitations, but once you figure out how to use them, nothing else comes close.

As far as pedals, I use an fDeck HPF and Aguilar Tonehammer with the upright. Sometimes I'll use those with a bass guitar. I use those mostly when I'm using the little Carvin combo, since a piezo sounds lousy without some preamp signal enhancement. It all works fine between the wireless receiver and amp. The chain is pickup > wireless transmitter > HPF > Tonehammer > amplifier.

Thanks Larry..... I'm very happy to still have this bass. My most unique, interesting bass.

I found these: Items in creative-cuts store on eBay! on TB, and I figured they'd look great on my Bird......

But, I'm sure I'll figure out some other mod/custom thing to do...... once I get the itch...

For anyone that has added these to a fretboard, are these thin enough that they kind of blend in to the fretboard or are they noticeable when you touch the board?

Also, if anyone has removed them did they leave any residue?

These work like "dry transfer" decals. So they are kind of like stickers. You can feel them on the fretboard, although they are very thin, and you don't feel them while playing. I have not tried to remove them, but I'd be surprised if they left ant kind of residue.... because like dry transfers, they need to be kind of rubbed on, or pressed onto the board. I'll let you guys know how these hold up to playing, once I get some time with them..

I fancy a new tuner for home use, I have a Korg GA40 which works well enough but it seems to have got a little temperamental, sometimes it read the tone sometimes it doesn't. I quite like the idea of a clip on one, are they any good and if so what would you recommend?

Got this last month

View attachment 944658 Anyone know about this Epi Bird ? Looks like they tried to do a 60's style, but the headstock is tiny, modern tuners, current TB pickups, black plastic pickup surrounds.

Epiphone - Thunderbird Classic IV PRO - Alpine White

That is NOT a Classic IV Pro Thunderbird....

That is a Limited Edition bolt-on Thunderbird... They made 3 of these with chrome hardware a couple of years ago in the colors Vintage Sunburst, Alpine White and Ebony.
