Thunderbird Club

Ok... so here's something for you hardcore Gibson fanatics... envision the RG bass. Now envision the '80s Czech version called the "Disco Bass" ... I just purchased this one. Needs some work.., but, that is no problem.

So, as you work on it will you be saying "dis goes here, dis goes dere?":bag:

Morning (pending on where globally you are). At 9k+ pages I don't think search is gonna help me too much but, does anyone know of a decent supplier of aftermarket plates for an Epi Tbird 2018 Chinese passive IV if it matters. Fancy swapping the white for maybe a black pearl effect or similar. Also I'm in UK so postage etc (Brexit ) may need to be taken into account.

Have seen some Chinese items but not sure on quality however if anyone knows of anything it'll be someone here I dare say. Thanks in advance.

This is where I got the red one in my profile pic:

Pickguards for Epiphone Basses | Pickguard Planet

Thunderbirds are a little over halfway down the page. They've got a lot of color/material options!

Hope that helps :)

Those are great prices compared to other aftermarket PG sites.

They have Gibson Thunderbirds on another page - I used one of those patterns for my Classic Pro. Trc, too, and they sent me a leftover chunk of the same material (at my request) for a small fee, that I used for the electrics cover. Were very nice to deal with, too.

Yeah, I went back and forth. Had it been in an enclosure large enough for three stomp switches with room, it would have been a no-brainer for me despite the extra cost. I play barefoot, so I can switch things, bit I have to be really careful- and occasionally still botch it.
Yes indeed. Touch and rotate the speed knob and...well and bass through a Leslie wouldn't really sound good in any setting.

I would love to own a Blackbird.

Hard to tell from those pics. Obvious player wear. Missing TR cover that will be hard to get an authentic replacement for; they have Gibson And Blackbird embossed on them. Certainly worth checking out.

I'm a bit confused about everyone bringing up a missing truss rod cover. The third photo (also attached below) shows a Gibson Blackbird truss rod cover. Is this the incorrect cover for this model?

In going forth and back between pics of yer SS, it looks like you'd hafta put the logo(if black)just slightly higher on the PG so the Bird's left wing doesn't 'disappear'. But clear on the silverburst would look awesome. After yer done, send it to me for approval.

Nice try Plaid. That wonderful Thunderbird Has found its home. It's pretty much unique as is, but I'm thinking clear might really look cool. I was pleased to see no route under the pickguard. I kinda thought that could be the case and glad it is. Also glad the finish under it looks great. Maybe white logo like the TR cover?

Maybe you could get a logo in PB. That'd show up against the silver and the black. And there are some people who seem to really like that color.;)

I would love to do something like that!
It was pretty cool! The drummer is a friend I've played with, there were Tenor & Alto saxes, and along with all of us old dudes, a 15 year old blind girl on piano. She is amazing. She was doing Herbie Hancock phrases on Saturday's recording session.
I'll share video and/or audio when it's ready.
