As I understand it(could be wrong), 7-10 days quarantine to come here, same on return. Some used to come for the weekend events only then head back. Now that would be a 2 1/2 week commitment. Not worth it. Not even to see my 1967 Gibson NR Thunderbird. and me.

My kids' band's bass player has taken to really digging in on his rounds and really giving the strings a more than necessary tug. He didn't play like that up until a month or so ago and I truly hate it. He no longer has access to my TBirds for different tunings like in the past in our music room for rehearsals. Retune and carry on with your bass.

I don't like his playing at all now. :rollno:

I use a good amp and play basses that allow low action and use a soft touch with the right hand so I don't have the work so hard. When I was his age and young and dumb, I played as hard as anybody. He'll learn.

I still use a harder touch than I should, but it's how I learned-no lessons. I try to let the amp do most of the work, but at 76, it's hard to break bad(nasty?)habits.

That's one of the reasons I have the volume pedal - set the amp & bass for the max I want, then back off with the pedal. Easy to add more as "necessary" :)

I'm too old to be hammerin' away at the strings with the pick like I used to.....

love that idea, thinking of doing the same….hate that feeling of the bass being too loud and uncontrollable….

Makes sense with the restrictions.

so true, i used to go to Finland on business and they have these dance halls/bars with live bands and these signs (one says “men” the other “women”) that would light up (one at a time) after the band played four songs……(I know, bizarre)…..when the “men” sign would light up the men would get up and ask the women to dance and viceversa…….really out there but what i can say is that i was in disbelief with the gorgeous women that would ask me to dance…..interesting country……btw never saw same genders dancing but this was 20 years ago….also remember the women there really taking to African Americans playing pro basketball over here…

And they seem to age well. Or they're frozen.
