It has been an interesting month and change since I told the CEO that he and the CFO are incompetent. When you lob a grenade, you do so understanding that you may be the collateral damage... You have to be prepared to offer your resignation.

Funny thing is, when you tell the CEO that he is incompetent and offer your resignation. If your resignation is rejected, you are then free to keep lobbing grenades.

You must be self-employed.

It's important to like the sound/tone we're creating with our instruments regardless of what they are and as long as we're doing that, great!

For sure Larry! It's funny, I don't play with much ferocity when I'm home by myself and the clank does seem a bit much in that setting. Through these strange times I haven't played music with anyone for at least 18 months now and I've fallen out of "playing shape" and am soon to face having to pull it together again as I finally have a new guitarist to audition this Sunday.

I almost always have the tone knob dimed when I'm playing live, all that clank and the treble do help with definition of the individual note as it sits in the whole band mix, it can sound extreme if you're home playing in the practice room though.

Here, the tone knob is dimed and when the other instruments except the drums fade as the verse begins you can hear some clank and treble, note how it diminishes as the rest of the band comes back in...... I'll keep my clank!



Here as well at about 3:15 the bass pedals with the drums and you get a bit clank from the pick, totally lost when the band comes back in.


Same here, lots of treble but it changes as the camera moves even!

Sounds great! Fits perfectly.

I never recall breaking a string while playing. But I don't go at it like I'm working to subdue the beast either.

Like Chuck said, he's learning, and hopefully he will learn and mature as a player. He's still a kid it seems so there's hope!

I have broken E and A strings many times playing live, NGL, I get pretty wound up and play hard so it happens. I always bring a spare Bird, as they say 1 = none, 2 = 1.

So, we just got word that one of our better paying gigs got 86ed. We had been playing for a Finnish Gala annual thingy for a few years, but not last year, or this due to travel restrictions. Many Finns come over to Lake Worth, FL-just south of West Palm Beach-during the winter. Really sux 'cos they like our repertoire and the fact that we'll learn a coupla songs to fit their party's theme. Oh, well, TBird'll get a rest that night(too late to try and book sumpin' else)

There are definitely bass players who seem to want to play bass as a lead instrument.

Don't get me wrong, I love when you can hear the bass parts distinctly from the other instruments but I need that bass part to crush the low end.

That stinks. Are the Finns not not traveling this year or what? Tell 'em you and the bird will wear masks!

True. We play mostly 60s/70s "classic(?) rock" wherein clank, slapnpop, etc. are totally inappropriate. Interestingly, one of the pieces in the concert band's next performance has a few string pops written in. Conductor looked at me funny, but saw it notated in the score. OK.

Skynyrd snd Allman Brothers are great examples. Low end for daaaaaze.
