Thunderbird Club

A case of I am the only one in a position to save the company. The board knows it. The CEO knows but won't admit it. What they don't know is that if I walk (or am walked out), there are several other critical people who will walk.

I keep hoping I will get fired. I will be able to buy just the assets I want out of bankruptcy in 6 months.
Cool! By making yourself indispensable, you have them by the cojones(a very good Spanish word meaning...cojones.)

Update on the brightness issue.

After reading the comment on pickup height, I noticed that both pickups were parallel to the face of the bass, not the string angle. I removed the strings, and did a little shimming of the pickups, so that they're now parallel the the strings and quite a bit closer.

All I can say is Holy Sh**! What a difference a few millimeters can make. It really brought out the tone and growl that I was looking for. I'm still going to try different strings, but that small adjustment pretty much took care of my problem.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Here’s how I “fixed” the bridge on my EBO in the 80’s. I haven’t needed to adjust the height, but if I did, I would just make another mahogany block.
It works for me.

Have you considered...

...just for the esthetics.

That's how the Classic Pro is designed to sound.<snip>

<snip>The darkness (not the Darkness) is one of the reasons I love my CP so much. It's truly a THUNDERbird.

This is why my Classic Pro is never going anywhere and strung BEAD. Just awesome low end THUNDER.

It always amazes me when bass players talk about diming the tone knob or wanting brightness out of their bass tone. o_O

No thanks, not what I like.

It has been an interesting month and change since I told the CEO that he and the CFO are incompetent. When you lob a grenade, you do so understanding that you may be the collateral damage... You have to be prepared to offer your resignation.

Funny thing is, when you tell the CEO that he is incompetent and offer your resignation. If your resignation is rejected, you are then free to keep lobbing grenades.
is it just you, the CEO and the CFO there?…

:thumbsup:Ditto! I choose to play bass for a reason. The only treble I introduce is whatever is needed for note definition and it ain’t much.

If it continues to go downhill.

“Quando Omni Flunkus, Moritati.”
(If all else fails, play dead.)
:cool:Of course that only applies if this doesn’t work…
Illegitimi non carborundum

Are talking string theory now? If so, it's going to be very interesting.
Well we could talk about the theory of relativity. I have lots of relatives. :D

Same. There's a lot of bass players I see/hear that have so much "brightness" (and often/mostly play very far up the neck) that they should probably be playing baritone guitars. Or just go ahead & get a 7-string treble guitar or something....:confused:

imo :)
