That's definitely a good option. But don't discount the free and immediate pickup height thing. It makes a huge difference in clarity and brightness.

I've done that for years with the two point evertilt. I have something a little better in mind.

The evertilt is still on my EB-2. I haven't touched it in years and the intonation is still fine. It's a lousy design, but once it's set up more or less, it stays put. But, even though the EB-2 is officially vintage now, I would consider replacing that crummy 2-point if something came along that didn't require drilling holes and wouldn't mar the surprisingly good finish on that bass.

I have an Alpine White Epiphone T-bird Classic. ( the one with the Gibson pickups).

How can I brighten up the tone? Even with new D'addario xl170's, it still sounds very "dark".

If you want bright sound and flatwound strings, try EB Cobalt Flats. You can back off and get thumpy or dig in and get really bright. Playing down by the bridge brightens things up a bit, as well as raising the bridge pickup as high as you can without buzzing. All pretty cheap options, since the strings aren't too bad for bass strings. Then there's all the EQ messing around you can do, but you probably already know all of that stuff.

TBH, you should be allowed 2 tickets. I don't know too many people that go to shows alone unless they have to due to lack of interest from friends or a spouse or due to lack of friends or a spouse.

It's been a while sense i've been in that situation but That scenario would be ... if your in the room Drop everything and go right now!

Now it would be much more difficult as i, like you, want tp go with my spouse.

That says "scratch" all over it. I could't do that, unless a couple metal bushings are sunk under the screws as a sort of wear plate.

Your right, already thought of that. Solve one problem another arises, felt pads on the feet maybe........or maybe not. I've already abandoned the levelers, and what to do with that third hole hmmmmmmm.

Here’s how I “fixed” the bridge on my EBO in the 80’s. I haven’t needed to adjust the height, but if I did, I would just make another mahogany block.
It works for me.

Do you have a bench grinder? You can buy a hex bolt that will screw into the third hole They come with a nice round top in silver or black (see @Engle above). Then you'll need to grind the top of the bolt down to 1/8". It will work as a lifter too.

How dare you sir! I am all about cheap laughs...

But I have been busy today lobbing grenades at work.

I met with the chairman. It turns out that whereas I thought I was lobbing a grenade, it was more like a claymore mine. Ball bearings piercing precisely the targets at which it was aimed. Unfortunately, it means that I am not fired.

Oh well, I live to set off more ordinance another day...

Note to self - my old CO's advice was only partly right. His career advice was "you get three questions and one complaint a year. Use them wisely". I think perhaps there needs to be a corollary; sometimes you get the best results when you are willing to blow everything up including yourself.
