I have a good friend in Scotland who's sent me about six bottles of single malt. It's good to have friends.

I'm just astounded by what cases cost, especially for the level of quality that goes into them, notably the Thunderbird HSC. I bought mine from a site that had 1, and it had been damaged in shipping; there was an inch and a half long hole in the bottom side wall where something hit it. The rest of the case was in brand new condition, and I paid about $40 for it after shipping. After having it for a year I believe that they're only worth about $40 in terms of build quality. The hardware is pretty craptastic. When I win the lottery in gonna build them overseas with hinges that will actually last.
My sunburst is a even 9lbs.My Classics are similar, Scott, in that the Alpine white is much lighter (8.4 lbs) than my VSB (9.8 lbs.)
The neck on mine is quite slim, maybe even slightly slimmer than the Gibson but I've not tries a white one to compare.View attachment 954053 View attachment 954048 It's here! Again the Classic Pro does not disappoint! A quick set up out of the box, 1/4 turn on the truss rod and lower the bridge and the action is as low as any bass I own and that's low! At 9 lbs it is heavier than my Artic White and the neck is beefier. I am surprised at the difference but not unpleasantly so. The neck is definitely 9 ply not 7 as stated on the website. Frets are perfect not a buzz from top to bottom. The finish and grain are stunning, overall it is a little darker than most and I like it! I will chrome it out in the next few days. Here are some pics I shot this morning. View attachment 954048

Some of you are surely old enough to remember how the plastics in old cars and clock radios always cracked after a few years.
The necks on those Epi EB3/SGs are super slim and fast. Have you thought about replacing the pup selector with a varitone switch?

China Buckers and your bridge? What do you do with the shoulders of the threaded inserts, replace them or modify? What I have in mindView attachment 954066
Yes a 9.2k Chinabucker and my Badbird II Bridge. I will leave the inserts, I can't be bothered. I am going to order Hipshot mini clover leafs as well. Yikes I need three sets to complete several other chrome conversions.China Buckers and your bridge? What do you do with the shoulders of the threaded inserts, replace them or modify?
Seems fair enough, nothing is more stable than contact on three points. I like hipshot tuners, worth every pennyYes a 9.2k Chinabucker and my bridge. I will leave the inserts, I can't be bothered. I don't usually use a pick with bass, but on the rare occasion that a song absolutely requires a pick, I'll use a 3.0 mm plastic triangle. I think they are called Stubby Triangles or something. Nothing flakes off of those! For the small six stringed guitar variety, I haven't noticed a whole lot of difference in pick life, so long as they are thick enough. I like nylon picks that are at least .75 mm and up to 2.0 mm for the little jazz picks I sometimes use. That doesn't address your question, does it! Sorry.Seeing as this is really the Gibson Club ... anyone use Gibson 346 picks in H or XH gauge? Started out on them a long time ago but due to circumstances changed to Dunlop 1mm nylon then 1.14mm tortex. I recall the Gibsons would develop notches very quickly and leave cellulose dust all over the pickguard.
