Thunderbird Club

Tue dat, forgot about that post. I saw the English's dude video in a Nevada UK shop.
Sounds good enough to me.

Thx.

enjoy kinda hate that the video doesn't go full length in detail about the pickups & that he plays it like a guitar, but man they sound crystal clear even when the overdrive kicked it

I put Deep Sixx pickups in my Bastard Jazz, it is the T-Bird cousin nobody talks about.

how do they perform to you?

It's weird. When I first got them installed I thought they sounded pretty good, but I had a buzz/grounding issue I could not sort out. So I took it to the shop that I use when I can't fix something and they found the issue and corrected it and it is buzz free. I wanted to try it out before I left the shop so they set me up on a Fender Rumble 500 head with the matching 4x10 cab. It was horrible (IMO) and sounded lifeless with no "snap". No personality. I'm pretty sure that the Fender Rumble amps are not for me.

At home I don't have a "practice amp" so I play through a small mixer and my old KRK studio monitors and my basses sound really close to my live rig. At home this was a completely different bass. Good strong sound, plenty of definition. I'm very happy with the pickups. I'm looking forward to trying them with my live rig this weekend.

Hi everybody,

I'm a new member in this site from Hungary. The reason, that I registrated this site, I'm a Thunderbird fan, and I often read this forum. I like it!
I have two Epi T-bird, and one of them is specially, and I would like to introduce this instrument, and share pictures from this T-bird.
So, ihave to go to work, but I come back this evening.

Good bye!

Welcome to the Club!

Post a picture of your T-Bird and you will be assigned a membership number by our beloved Queen... :)

NBD today!

Just taken delivery of this bad boy:

Looks perfect in any way with an impeccable finish and fairly good intonation out of the box.

Neck is amazingly narrow and thin (front to back) - kinda like a mid 70's Rickenbacker 4001.

This is going to be a fun bass! :)

Can't believe these basses are so cheap - Bought the bass brand new from Thomann for € 279,- ($ 311,-) with free shipping from Germany to Denmark.

Got the case a month ago 2nd hand in mint condition for only € 23 ($ 26) - A total steal as they are usually almost 4 times the price new.

Is that one of the long scale ones?

Seeing as this is really the Gibson Club ... anyone use Gibson 346 picks in H or XH gauge? Started out on them a long time ago but due to circumstances changed to Dunlop 1mm nylon then 1.14mm tortex. I recall the Gibsons would develop notches very quickly and leave cellulose dust all over the pickguard.

Nice Michael! Looks just like the one I bought when GC screwed up my silver Epi TBird a couple years ago.

I'm just astounded by what cases cost, especially for the level of quality that goes into them, notably the Thunderbird HSC. I bought mine from a site that had 1, and it had been damaged in shipping; there was an inch and a half long hole in the bottom side wall where something hit it. The rest of the case was in brand new condition, and I paid about $40 for it after shipping. After having it for a year I believe that they're only worth about $40 in terms of build quality. The hardware is pretty craptastic. When I win the lottery in gonna build them overseas with hinges that will actually last.

The necks on those Epi EB3/SGs are super slim and fast. Have you thought about replacing the pup selector with a varitone switch?

View attachment 953997 Off topic I know, but that doesn't seem to be as taboo here as elsewhere. :)

Just had a boys weekend in Auckland, and bought myself a present in the Duty Free. My first ever bottle of Single Malt Scotch. A Balvenie Triple Cask, very smooth. I'm a little excited. Lol

Being a Single Malt Scotch lover and having tried that specific one I think you'l enjoy it a lot. For me Scotch is something that I've come to enjoy a bit past my youth - Bowmore 12 year and MacAllan 12 being faves of mine.

There's a wonderful place just down the street from my house, 200 varieties of Single Malt! It's a shame to have just one liver
