Thunderbird Club

You have a great bass. It's as close as you can get to the tone of a '60s version without not dropping some serious money. They are great.

Maybe one day I'll do a slavish reproduction of my '64 II - as much as the new Epi is as close as Gibson/Epiphone ever got to a decent RI, there's just so many details they left dangling. Your lovely line-up reinforces this for me. But then, I've never owned a late '60s T-bird... hummm...

Oh man, did the T-bird ever morph into the ugliest car on the road or what? A friends parents "gifted" him their '70s T-bird and I rode in it once - it was really cramped inside and HUGE on the outside. The front hood was like an aircraft carrier!

Don’t forget horrible QC, over priced and the CEO was a Jerk!
Ditto on the flats.
Love that lineup (not to mention the background - getting more homesick every day).
Golf course behind the new (to us) house... Just waiting for you....

Even get a little of this stuff you don't get in LA with the change of seasons, which you also don't get much of! I don't recommend too much of it.

Tired of all that hot, dry air and crazy high taxes yet? ;)

Do it! Do it! Do it! I'm sure it would be fantastic.

Thanks, and you should fix that last problem! :D Maybe profit from the repro(s) can generate funds for a late 60s for you.

.......

Several of us love flats on a Bird or two.

That's what I have on my Blackbird atm (Roto 77s), love the way they sound with the high-output DeepSixx pickups

My granddad had one of those when I was very small. Red, I think?
I do remember him letting me "drive" - aka, work the steering wheel while I sat on his lap & he worked the pedals :nailbiting:

My grandmother (other set of grandparents) had the Lincoln version for a while, when I was in middle school? or thereabouts.
I remember the big 460 it had, hugely fast for its size & weight.

At this point, I'm not in the hunt for one - especially since I have same period basses I love. My Coral Deluxe Bass is "like" a NR in body shape and it is such a nice bass. I can't imagine a '68 T-bird IV sounding/feeling/looking better.

I think you shared a recording of it maybe a couple years ago and it sounded great as I recall.

Exactly - how in hell did a T-bird evolve into a Continental? In the '50s that would have been caused by Atomic-bomb radiation!

Brutalist industrial design (that has to be a high point!) - The '70s were strange times.

Thanks! :) We're in rehearsals for a recording session in January 2022. 4 songs; two originals and two 'covers'. I use that term lightly because they are more different versions of classic songs than slavish renditions. Had a rehearsal earlier today and things are starting to gel. Kirstin is returning to active duty after birthing her beautiful little girl Umi-Jo so we're easing back into our 'full house' routine. Used my latest, a hollow-body (Czech) Jolana Kolorbas today and it sounded perfect for the kind/style of music we play. It will definitely be at that recording session.

You know, I never thought of it that way... but then, imagine that '78 Thunderbird in place of the Corvette... :rollno:

I would drive one of those - if it was the right color. Not a factory color, either.

The concrete monolith and a 70s thunderbird do share the same design characteristics
