Thunderbird Club

You know, I never thought of it that way... but then, imagine that '78 Thunderbird in place of the Corvette... :rollno:

A Sydney (just one, there are more) mbr of the Brutalist school of the 1970s.
Public Housing - the Sirius Building, a giant collection of cement cubes stacked on top and beside each other.
Plonked down between the Harbour Bridge and circular quay and Opera House…. Where millions can see it.

It looks straight out of east Germany (or Poland). Soviet era architecture.

Oh man, did the T-bird ever morph into the ugliest car on the road or what? A friends parents "gifted" him their '70s T-bird and I rode in it once - it was really cramped inside and HUGE on the outside. The front hood was like an aircraft carrier!

All that T-bird needs is a professionally painted Thunderbird on that “aircraft carrier” hood and it’s good to go!

Thanks! :) We're in rehearsals for a recording session in January 2022. 4 songs; two originals and two 'covers'. I use that term lightly because they are more different versions of classic songs than slavish renditions. Had a rehearsal earlier today and things are starting to gel. Kirstin is returning to active duty after birthing her beautiful little girl Umi-Jo so we're easing back into our 'full house' routine. Used my latest, a hollow-body (Czech) Jolana Kolorbas today and it sounded perfect for the kind/style of music we play. It will definitely be at that recording session.

That is just a cool looking bass!

I’m certainly tired of the Santa Anna winds and the SoCal Edison antics. Taxes are taxes, gonna have em in one form or another to varying degrees just about anywhere you go. We pretty much have three seasons here, a couple months of fall followed by a couple months of spring and about eight months of summer. I really don’t miss winter. But I really do miss the color green, not much of that around here unless it rains, and then it only stays green for a month or so before turning brown again. But hey, it’s SoCal, essentially a desert.
True, taxes are everywhere, but your taxes are taxes and our taxes are taxes in comparison. I saw the other day that since decade or so it seems Cal power utilities have gone up several times faster than the rest of the states. That's gotta but the squeeze on the Thunderbird population out there! But it seems there are so many benefits to Cal. It seems to have it all in terms of geography, scenery and even climate--all in one state.

I often wondered about all the brown in SoCal I've seen on TV programs. From Kentucky when watching a program it looks on you see all those brown everything and then you see a little clump of green once in a while or a small patch of it surrounded by more brown. My wife and I have commented on that and wondered how common that is. I get tired of the clouds and Winter is too long for my liking. I've love the warm dry weather out there, I think, but all the lack of green could get as old as clouds and cold here. No matter where you go--it ain't paradise!

I am starting a Motown cover band with my drummer friend, and on Sunday I did a 5 hour rehearsal/jam for a food bank benefit gig next Saturday. Seize the day!

Looks like James McNew from Yo La Tengo is still using the Thunderbird.

the Bay Area is an excellent compromise……that said, I really like deserts…

For someone not from this area it’s kinda hard to believe, but where we live (just outside of Simi Valley) in SoCal we have about a two month window (Dec/Jan) that we have any real hope of getting a meaningful amount of rain. If we’re lucky we get a couple of inches in that period, the rest of the year virtually nothing, maybe a fraction of an inch total. So in a good year we have emerald green hills in Feb/Mar but after that it all dies and turns brown just waiting for a spark or cigarette butt to set it off.
The daily weather report here is quite entertaining, starting at the ocean and moving about 25 miles inland you have about seven distinct micro climates, each with their own weather report and 7 day forecast.
Seven SoCal Microclimates
1) Coast
2) Los Angeles and Orange County Basins (this could be two separate forecasts during peak heat)
3) Valleys
4) Inland Empire
5) Mountains
6) High Desert
7) Low Desert

On the bright side - the Thunderbirds love it here, not much humidity and temperature change from day to day and season to season.

We got all that and more in Washington - Rain Forest.

And a happy Monday to you as well - I'm officially awake now after listening to that.

I'm awake and in Pioneer Square..............Wish I was at home snoozing with the cat.

That would be so cool! Hopefully it turns into more gigs. Book one down here please!
Are you using a Thunderbird with that?
Now you know as well as anyone that Thundbirds can't do Motown. Gotta have a FSO.
