Love emoji...It was really time to replace the old one, it had lasted 29 years, the new one holds snow well and the sound of rain falling on it at night is quite nice to fall asleep to.
Can we suggest a Greco '77 II as a possible surrogate?

Looks great! Ridge vents are the way to go. Good call! Makes for a much cleaner look and more even airflow IMO.View attachment 4534363
The Greco is certainly much more affordable and the pickup intrigues me, the wide nut however is pretty much a deal breaker, though never say never A unbroken 64-65 Thunderbird II is my hearts desire, I've never had one and now is the time. Stop trying to distract me lol. Our roof still had the original cedar shakes and at least two layers of asphalt shingles. It needed to be done and we were the lucky ones to do it. Looks nice though.

Each week a new town on the way to Washington state where the two thunderbirds play gigs with local bands and solve musical crimes.I am envisioning a documentary! "...two bass-players, two vintage T-birds - one reverse, one non-reverse, one hot AMX - on a road-trip to meet the Thunderbird Queen ... Staring Chucky Milner and Geo Maharis" (Sunday at 6:00/9:00 EST)

Don't forget, "one reverse, one non-reverse".
We also don't spit on the heads of younger relatives when they visit as in some places... So we're not all bad!I watched Route 66 as a kid in the early '60s when it aired. Loved it for obvious reasons, namely that cool '62 Corvette. Much later when they appeared on the internet, I watched a bunch of them again. Kinda' repetitive but fun; on the road to anywhere (a true road theme), got a job wherever they landed as some sort of day-laborer, got in a fight with locals (over a girl, or whatever), got laid by the local girl(s) and by the end of the episode - drive off to the next destination, wherever that ends up to be. In retrospect a possible homosexual (abet closeted at the time) hint in the air - but as it was the early '60s... they were "brothers" with a shared camaraderie.
On this point - I was in a bar in KC/Mo in the late '80s with a good (artist) friend I'd known for years and I hadn't seen for a while, and we were laughing and slapping each other on the back sharing art-school war stories when a 'local' cigarette smoking older woman at the bar next to us said under her breath "homosexuals". We looked at each other, then at her and just laughed. (at her!) As Seinfeld would commonly say... "not that there's anything wrong with that" - but there is such a thing as 'male bonding' w/o a sexual side. (duh! needless to say to open minded people) I love watching old b&w movies from the '30s-'40s where men have their arms around each other in friendship. The depression and WW2 were part of that - men relied on other men to 'work together' and to 'cover their backs' etc - talk about bonding! In the Mid-East, men walk together holding hands. The US has evolved since the '80s... but still not enough to align with many civilized nations in the world.

I thought, and still do, that the Gremlin was cool and inventive. The Pacer was inventive but not cool!
One of my rare melon-free appearances...
A practice in some African cultures. If I recall it's a form of blessing, etc. A long time friend from Sudan said he always hated to go visit or have older men relatives visit him. He's 6'6 now, so most of his relatives can't spit on his head if he were to go back to visit!!!! that I was not aware of!
