Seriously, i love this bass. I'm looking for one in the UK, but with no luck. I love classic white. Sadly i might have to settle for a studio (black) or the Gibson Gothic...:crying: (not too keen on the usual vintage sunburst)

Mine is a 2006 Thunderbird Studio 5 String, cherry finish and chrome hardware

Thats a great looking bass, saw one at my local GC but haven't tried it out. I was a little disappointed they quit making them with neck-thru and went to a plain set neck. How does it sound? Anything close to an original T-Bird?

I'm not the poster of the cherry studio, mine is the black one. They still make the original neck-thru. The "studio" is the set neck. Not having played a neck-thru in awhile I can't offer a tone comparo. I'll just say the studio sounds good in it's own right. Probably different then the neck through. At a recent gig, a fellow bas player said he was envious of my tone - best pick tone he's heard.

I got to ask, do the cons of the fret access and the neck dive make this bass unenjoyable to play, I really love these basses, but have never thought of buying one because of these drawbacks.

I noticed a little neck dive on the Epiphones because of th eplacement of the strap button, but my Studio 5 is as well balanced as any of my basses. There is no neck dive on the Gibsons from my experience. And there is no issue with the fret access either. It has become my favorite bass.

They still make the neck through, but not if you want a 5 string. It sounds amazing. The Growl is far better than my Warwick Buzzard. It sounds a lot like my P Bass with a lot more bottom end. You can hear it on my band web site at Invalid Link Removed

Signing in to the club. I have lusted after a T-bird for so long, I travelled to Japan from Singapore (they are expensive here). Finally picked up a Gibby Thunderbird Studio IV used but in near mint condish in Ishibashi Music Store in Osaka. Lugged it up and down the shinkansen and subway stations with wife, 2 kids and plenty of luggage in tow all the way back home.

Beautiful bass. Beautiful tone. First time I uncased it, my keyboardist ran out of the studio in fear! *grin* Will try and post a picture.

Congrats! Sounds like quite an adventure getting it where you were going!
I just hope your keyboardist will eventually poke out from under that Triton... :)

I was in the market for a ripper but I came across a mid 90's T-Bird in mint condition for 900 very local.. you guys that own them do you think its worth it?

I'm a pick/fingers player, I have a ripper among other basses and I'm playing through a 400+ w/powerhouse 1000 cab & a B4R & ampeg 8X10...

Yeah, I noticed a little bit of neck dive on the Epiphone Goth t-bird I got recently, but it's not bad. The way I wear the bass, my right forearm counters the dive anyway, but even if it didn't, a good strap and moving the button to the neckplate would fix it just fine. I only noticed it because people go on about it so much on this forum, so I was looking for it. :)

That's cool, I woujld have the same experience as I rest my right forearm on the top of my basses playing in the Who Tribute band (Both the T Bird and My Buzzard.

You should come see us this Thursday at the Fat Cat in your home town there... We're playing with the Headliner Aquanet the 80s Hair Tribute.
