okay so ive been saving up money to buy a new bass and like a lot of people i wanna buy the vintage burst epiphone thunderbird IV. Now i wanna buy the all access thunderbird IV value pack and i was wondering how good it actually is. I have heard that many cases dont fit the thunderbird so would the value pack one fit? it seems stupid to ask this but does it? Also i was wondering how some of the other items in the set are. I am also wondering how much moving the neck button to the back would cost if i went to guitar center ( i dont trust myself to do the job). If you have any tips on where i should move the neck button or any information on the bass please tell me. Thanks

thunderbird IV questions

So what made you focus on that choice? Personally I'd get away from anything with neck dive tendencies just for starters. OK, some like'em and some don't. I would urge you, however, to look at a few other basses so you have fewer things to deal with for starters. Plenty out there in the "easy on the wallet" category: from Squier to Washburn, from Ibanez to Douglas or SX. Just my opinion of course and want you to be happy with your ultimate choice. Whatever your choice---enjoy and rejoice that you are a basssist.

I put my button in the middle of the O in Made In Korea, But, yours may be made in China, there for try the H. Honestly, I made my hole with a simple power drill and the right sized bit. It was super easy, and not hard on the bit or drill to go right through the metal.
As for the bass, I love those T-birds, got a White one myself that I put Bartolini Pups, Hipshot Supertone Bridge, and Hipshot Tuners on and its better than my "Real Gibson" T-bird. Good luck to you!

hey man, i like your taste i not too long ago got rid of my epi thunderbird i know that it may seem a little obvious but whilst they look really cool these birds have a very specific sound, feel and look. i got used to the neck dive i am a big man and this is a big bass so it was not really an issue but the sound is what made me sell mine it has very destinctive and not really very versatile sound to it. what i am really getting at is that these are wicked basses for the price and looks and quality and all that but man i would not ever spend a cent on one until you play it a fair bit, go into the music store ask for a strap and to be plugged in and sit with it till they get the sh i ts with you and try to kick you out i would also recommend playing one of the more versatile basses in that price range as well like the ibanez or yamaha then see what you think i got rid of mine because it just was not amenable to letting me tweak it to fitting with my 'sound' and man these things have absolutly no resale value becaue there are thousands of people like me out there who did the same thing if it is for you then congrats on picking up a sweet bass good luck with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the sound of the Gibson T-bird so I bought one. LOVE it!
For ROCK it can't be beat. Now, if you want to play Jazz or Funk, get another bass.

You're getting a bit of a saving buying the pack, but don't expect the amp to be good for much more than practice. Also you're going to want a wider strap than the one you'll get in the pack. I'd personally pass on the pack.
The value pack comes with a gig bag - a case will cost you a further $89. As for fitting the bass most 'standard' cases/gig bags are made to fit the dimensions of a J or a P bass. The T'bird is longer than those. Believe it of not
D) the technology now exists to make a case/bag with dimensions slightly longer than a J or P to fit the dimensions of the T'bird!
I just bought one less than a week ago. I got it used for $150. It was in fantastic shape. I got a hard case with it.
The neck dive is a bad as they say. Moving the strap button to will solve the problem. I suggest putting a a strap lock on it. Ernie ball and Dunlop both make excellent locks. Here a link that talks more about it and shows you how to install.

I don't know about the value pack, nor how much it would cost. Usually value packs come with a gig bag, a tiny amp, and so on. The only benefit I can see is having a small amp with a headphone out that you can do silent practice with.
Consider this also: Because of the unusual shape of the bass - it will not fit on a conventional guitar stand. You will have to buy a different stand. The one I have is the "Ultimate Guitar Stand" and is sold at Guitar Center. I got the floor model for $10... but they run about $30. Nice stand.

My Epi T-bird is awesome! But I just happen to love the neck, tone, and looks of the beast. Some call it a one trick pony but I disagree. With pup selection and right hand placement I can dial in some wicked tones.
hey sorry this is late but i find myself going more towards the t bird beacause of its cool look. It seems like whenever i look at another bass its just not good enough. Do any of you guys know a good bass for and intermediat player? I am looking for a good bass below 450. I play mostly rock but im also in my school jazz band so i need a bass that can handle more mellow tones too. Thanks and if i do get the t bird im definitly skipping on the pack.
yep they look cool, they sound cool for certain music right out of the box, and they are easily modded with new pickups/bridge..etc if that's your goal.
is the look important? perhaps...is the bodystyle comfortable for you to wear compared to a Fender looking one?...perhaps.
All my Fender-looking bodied basses are very nice for what they are but for me a tbird body is WAY more comfortable to wear...that's me. can I wear a fender looking body and still play ?..of course, but for hours and hours, the Tbird shape is better for me..
