Thunderbird string spacing mods

Howdy folks,

I've decided I want wider string spacing on my beloved Bird. However, I don't want to replace the whole bridge. Does anyone know where I can get saddles for the ol' Bird set for 18mm or 19mm string spacing? The specific model I own is a 2014 Epi T Bird IV, literally the cheapest model. Thanks for the help y'all.

Here's a pic, because bass porn.

You'll need to install a new bridge to get different spacing. Hipshot makes the Supertone (comes in black if you want) which fits your bass and has adjustable saddles. It's a vast improvement over the 3-point and more than likely the bass will sound better after installing it.

No one makes aftermarket saddles? That's interesting to me. I'm one of those folks who doesn't really mind the stock 3-point once it's set up, plus I'm on a fairly tight budget (as always lol).

Anythings possible but I'm not aware of anyone making/selling them.

If you’re thrifty but handy, make your own out of steel or aluminum bar stock.

If your time is worth more to you than your money, then the Hipshot is the answer.

The narrow string spacing is one of the things I love about Gibson designs...
