However it works, the TFB is my go to head.
Been thru a lot of gear (serioously...45 years old, been doing this for a long time), still have a wt800B and navigator/qsc-plx 1602 for when I need stupid power to drive two 4 ohm cabs...
But I loves my TFB, and wouldn't trade it for nuttin.

I'm now in a similar situation to you... I have the Eden 1205 and the TFB 550B. Even tho I am digging the 1205 a lot, my TFB is still my main head, as well. I've also used it as a preamp for my Stewart World 2.1, and let me tell you, I LOVE that rig when I have the opps to use it. The TFB's preamp is so nice, clean, and powerful, and the Stewart is so VERY punchy, quick, and lightweight. Pure sweetness.Chef said:

I think at the moment it is spec's out as single space unit with enhance, timbre, no switch, one band of semi parametric mid, bass and treble.
Should be a nice pre. Man, some of you guys must play really loud... the TF's 550 watts is good for 90%+ of my gigs... never even breaks a sweat. However, as I do with the Glock, it's nice to have the big watts and power on those rare super loud/large room gigs where you need it.

Yes. It's a limiter and I've always called it that. AMP/Gibson called it a compressor, but that's improper. It clamps hard with a timing cap for a short overshoot to avoid pumping. It fattens the tone by actually increasing the gain a bit when engaged. This is how AMP designed it. It makes sense that if you're going to be using the Limiter, you'd probably want more gain.KJung said:+1 The TF compressor circuit (really a limiter from what I hear) is strange. Pre Update: Two rack spaces. Same as the present head without the power. I couldn't see dropping any of the features to save a rack space. I'm even planing on putting "The Switch" into it. And as always, the TFB550-B amp will continue to receive small improvements. The latest is flat head screws on the bottom of the amp, to help eliminate rack rash on equipment below. It wasn't hard to do, but required special "undercut" flathead screws so they'd sit flat in only 0.080" thick aluminum. We also changed the screws to stainless. Rusty screws make an amp look old. The filter board is now mounted on pressed in standoffs which don't come loose, are easier to assemble (no assembly!), and are actually even cheaper! And we made the power plate mounting screws #10's up from #8's just to elimnate another screw size and simplify inventory and assembly.KJung said:

When you get that pre up and running, please give some thought to a DI box sized mini preamp. For many of my gigs I just run a DI sized pre and go through the stage monitors. I would much rather have the same tone I get in my 550 than something like a SABDDI. Even if you can't get all those bands of semi-para EQ (I never use more than one anyway), I'd still be interested.
Heck, I'd be tempted to buy it even if the only tone control on it was that timbre knob.

Nice 'continued improvement'. I mentioned that I noticed the much nicer 'side' feet when using the amp in its 'non rack' format. Nice!

anyway, I've decided to go back to my TF/Aggie combination at church, better bottom end and rounder sound, even when using the "solid state" setting on TF. when I was using the bergs only the "tube" setting sounded full enough for the room I'm in.
keeping the bergs at home now with my eden 550.
