Thunderfunk - big hum?

successful landing, and i haven't noticed any noise yet, so i'm staying out of the chassis

...but great to know there is a simple fix should i encounter the issue!

OP - I was not casting aspersions on your tech's knowledge, experience or abilities. I used to work as a repair tech and IME & IMO, it is a waste of time to state my opinion that a given problem situation should not exist. I would simply get on with the repair/fix...

Guess I've been lucky with my TFB-550A. I haven't ever had any hum with mine.

Well, the wire's been waggled over the transformer, and fixed in place. It is now an amp with a bit of a hum rather than an amp with a loud hum. Still more than I'd like but fine for a bass amp in real world gigs.

I decided not to call him, as the "fix" was given here - but I still might if I find the current hum level a problem. The UK distributor asked Dave about it on my behalf, but no solutions were suggested. I don't know enough about audio/electronics to have much of a meaningful conversation, but I would like to know where this particular amp sits in terms of development (and whether there is a transformer/hum issue that has since been resolved).

I like the amp, so I'll use it for a while and see how it works out. Now the residual hum is a bit less noisy than the fan, so I don't see it being a problem in most places.
