yes, kind of a satire on all the t-funk vs. (fill in the blanks) threads lately, but last night I took my hartke 5000 to our rehearsal space to use w/ my ampeg pr1528he cab. I sold another pr1528he and an 1832he recently so this is my last bi-amp cab left and to take full advantage of the ha5000's capabilities I brought it along. I've been using nothing but AMP- and TFB-420's run full range w/ this cab for a year now. maybe it's a case of "what's old sounds new again" but that hartke sounded awesome! used the tube-pre and blended the bi-amp about 60-40 towards the 15 over the 2x8's and wow! punch city, clean, solid lows--real nice! admittedly, I'd never used this combo in a band setting--only solo at home, where it sounded nice, but kind of brittle at times or at best "uninspiring" tone-wise. maybe sitting in the mix makes all the difference or maybe my ears were just hearing differntly last night.
My Hartke, I think I'll keep her.
