cant find a sample and i dont know how to post them anyway.
but im going for a fat,fuzzy,farting sound that starts off chuncky and ends with a broken buzz.

everything you described is different, for bright you want rounds, for thunky you want flats and for farty you just kick a hole in your speakers
or put brand new flats on a MM with an overdrive pedal.

Buy an inexpensive Multi-effect pedal, boost the mid range tone & experiment with the effects. As you dial in the sound(s) you want, start shopping for the high end effects you are using.

New roundwound strings, a tube amp or tube amp sim, some mild distortion and a treble boost, a pick or fingers digging in really hard, and a chorus or flanger pedal, probably a flanger.
That sounds pretty much the same as the Nirvana link I posted. Use a pick, use lots of treble and mid, pick close to the bridge. Pretty simple.
I'd start a thread in the effects section as well. There's quite some distortion involved. Many pedal makers offer the possibility of listening to the pedals at their sites. Give it a try.
