With TI Jazz Flats I never cut the strings, just wind all of it on the tuner posts. No problems with tuning stability.

TI Flats - installation question

I have TI Jazz Flats on all 3 of my basses (all 5 strings with 34" scale length). On one of them, I didn't cut the strings at all, and each tuning post has 4 to 6 windings on them and I doubt I'd fit another winding. On my other two, I bent them at 90° angle before cutting them so they only have 2.5 to 4 winds around the tuning post. I mainly cut the strings so that installing the strings wouldn't take as much time. Don't know if crimping or bending is necessary, but I haven't had issues in the 2-6 months these strings have been installed.
I treat TI's like I treat every other bass string. Measure for about 3 winds on the tuner post; bend the leader 90 degrees, then cut the leader about 3/8" past the bend; and install the string. With all the usual precautions about twisting, etc. Just like I've done for more years than I care to think about...
