TI Flats vs D'Addario Chromes

I'm a long-time TI user and have no desire to try anything else. I've had them on my five-string fretless for years, but I have been playing my short-scale four-string fretless a lot lately, so I bought some TIs for it. Unfortunately, the "short scale" TIs are actually for 32" scale and were much too long for my 30" bass, so I bought a set of Chromes. I've had them on for about a year now and they sound great on my bass.

I recently tried a set of LaBella LTFs, but they came off after a few days and the Chromes are back on. I'm playing in a jazz trio right now and the Chromes are versatile. I can get a nice thump out of them, then get a nice, singing bridge-pickup tone with tasty highs. I'm really happy with the sound now.

I still wish that TIs were made in true short-scale, though....

on which bass did you have to use them? small tuners? because the 32" set can be used on 30" basses, I've used them. the only small issue is with basses like Danelectros, with guitar tuners.

That cant be right. They just barely are short enough for beatle bass, which is over 34" winding length. I dont even think they work with hofner ct's, with the long tailpiece. The only short scales they work on are ones with floating bridges and short tailpieces as far as i know, unless you want to go into the winding length on the tuners.

I tried them on the bass in the middle below. The tuner posts are pretty small, and the silked part started after the E and G tuners, so I was afraid the strings would break.

they don't break :p

That would be great! At the price of a set of TIs, I'd be nervous trying it, but maybe I'll give it a shot. Thanks!
