TI Jazz Flats E String Died in Just a Couple Months

Tying into what Tom and JimmyM were saying, one of the ways to avoid damaging strings is to assure that they aren't allowed to become twisted or kinked in a way that could lead to internal string damage; this kind of damage is more likely when strings are installed in the heat of battle, and when strings are removed and reinstalled.

Sorry if this doesn't fix your strings; hopefully, your next strings will age more gracefully. :)

FWIW, I have TI flats on 4 of my electric basses. Some are almost 15 years old. Knock wood, I've never experienced a problem with any of them. :)

Connolly is sending me a new string. To add commentary to the more recent posts, I have a bass that has a 5 year old set of TI's and they sound awesome. I also rechecked the string when I removed it and it definitely wasn't kinked or twisted. I am going to call this an anomaly for TI's and say the string was defective.

Well Connolly dropped the ball. They said they were going to send out a replacement (at least the customer support supervisor said that) and nothing. I followed up with some more email to see if they were still sending a replacement as promised but did not receive a response. I don't think I will be using TI's ever again. On to new things.

I've had strings of many different makes with the occasional dud. More than a few with rotosounds, and I never went back. However, this was in the days before internet shopping and the store was always happy to fork over a new set or string. Because they know a customer is worth it.

Never a problem with the TI jazz flats, and I move them from bass to bass.

In this day and age, customer service rules. I like my TI's too much to swap brands, but there are plenty of places to order TI's. Maybe forward a link to this thread to Connolly? This is not the place you want your customer service fails show up.

Dead strings happen, but so does good customer service.

I don't feel the need to forward them a link to the thread. They said they would replace the dud string and didn't. When I sent a follow up email they didn't respond. My correspondence was with their Customer Support Supervisor. She should be able to at least respond to an email even if to say it was going to take longer than expected or that it was shipped and presumed lost or something or other. I have used TI's for a very long time and every Precision I have ever had has worn them. So I know duds can happen. That is not the issue. The customer support supervisor dropping the ball is the issue.

If they happen to come back and send the string I will give them another chance and will even post that fact here. I am disappointed that after 3 weeks this hasn't been resolved. It is as simple as that.
