Sat on the floor of the Fillmore auditorium, as a high school bass player, in the 60's and listened to Vanilla Fudge. My musical horizons got expanded every weekend I drove over the Bay bridge but that was one serious kick in the butt for a "copy all these cats" kid. The vocals and song choices were way over the top too. Amazing bass player.

Reviving this thread after a two and a half year dormant period to post this killer track from the Beck, Bogert & Appice album: Lady.

FWIW, I was somewhat familiar with Tim's work with Cactus back in the day, though hadn't listened to much of him at that point. It was with the BBA album that I first sat up and took notice of this guy's very distinctive style, his gutsy, crunchy tone...and his killer chops. On this track, Tim is a total riff monster. He and Carmine Appice just tear it up, with Bogert providing the special inspiration that raises Lady from being merely a good track - to a truly great track.

I still listen to the BBA album all the time. Evil was one of my favorites also. We used to play it in my band back in the early 70's.
