I met Tim at a weird time in my life. I had been working as a pro player for years but had just lost everything and had decided to transition away from performance, but stay in the industry. Tim was one of the first guys Carey Nordstrand introduced me to. I'd never heard of Callowhill at the time but from our first communication we just hit it off. I think this was the case for a lot of people who knew him.
Tim was brilliant in a way that you don't often see. What you saw was the talent as a luthier and the great sense of humor all in a the most unassuming demeanor. But over the years he would say something offhand, almost as an afterthought, and you'd discover that there was an entire avenue of his ability and personality that you never knew about.
He was absolutely genuine and if anyone ever was, he was unflinching. Self-effacing sure, but the things he wrote to and about those insanely entitled personalities that fill our community were EPIC!! You knew if you were Tim's friend and that was a pretty amazing thing to be.
The news and the reality of it still hit me in waves, which is probably how it will be for a long time. We have lost someone and something very, very special.
