Time for a new setup, help please?

My birthday just passed, so you know what that means; Cash. So i decided i need to update my rig. I have a Gallien-Krueger 400rb head with an old old acoustic cab. I play a fender 70's reissue jazz bass. I've been looking into the Gallien-Krueger 700rb and maybe a neo cab. But also I love the sound of an Ampeg... but im definitely not going to mix and match those. For my style, I usually switch from playing styles of dirk lance from Incubus to Justin Chancellor of Tool. I'm trying to figure out a nice rig to compliment both aspects with a jazz bass. This is my first time buying amp equipment besides a ****** fender rumbler i use for practice.:help:

nothing wrong with either, but they're two different animals, especially if you go all tube with the ampeg. i'm more of an ampeg guy, others on here like the gk's. both do a great job. i suggest trying out both. however, i would stay away from the all solid state ampeg heads like the b2re and svt 450h. they're decent enough but for all solid state, i think gk is better. start sticking tubes in them, however, and i think ampeg has the edge.

Yeah, I hear you. I don't remember when I got something that I actually didn't essentially pay for myself. Any way GK is my preference. The old Sunn, and the OLD Ampegs were great. Not so much any more.
ampeg's on its way back, i believe. pyotr belov is a much more attuned-to-the-legacy dude than that slimy creep who used to run loud.
