To all Ashdown users

If you're going to be playing that style you may want to look at a brand like Gallien-Krueger. My Ashdown gives a very warm, fat sound that may be better for classic rock than metal.

I've played on several GK rigs and combos, I wasn't too impressed. It felt like I got a better sound out of my laney stuff. I've got a buddy who swears up and down by GK. I'm always hearing "Get GK stuff!!" whenever I talk about getting an amp.

I've been using a ABM RPM1 as the pre in my SS rig since '02. Excellent tone versatility, and never a glitch, totally reliable.

+1, cept I've only been using mine since '05.

If I were to complain, I wish the DI were Phantom Power tolerant, & there was a ground lift switch.

In this clip, I'm using an EVO II head and an Ashdown 410 cab. I'm also using a Wah pedal and a pick.

What do you run your RPM1 through? I use old Hartke cabs and a Carver PM 1.5, when I run the valve drive towards "grind" it does gets warmish but rolled over to "clean" it can sterilize small animals at 50 ft.

My Mag300 2x10 has been a reliable ride for the past 3 years. I play a lot of pop and jazzy stuff and love the rich bottomy tone I can emasculate from this amp.

I stopped by the Ashdown booth at NAMM in January & their representatives were very snotty & rude to me. I sent them an email that day & got a snotty rude response 5 weeks later (wish I had saved it). I can't imagine what it would be like to deal with them with a warranty problem & they seem to have a lot of them.

Can you expand on this Mike? Seems very strange, Ashdown are a small familly led company and I have had the pleasure of being down to their offices a couple of times in the last few years and all the staff there were fantastic both times, very down to earth and love what they do, so very disheartening to hear what you say. Are you sure they were from Ashdown - were they English? Or were they someone from their US distributor?
