To Block Or Not To Block?

Thinking that stick on blocks and stick on bindings would make what is a very nice looking bass look like a cheap piece of junk...

You might be surprised. Some of them are very high quality, using thin layers of actual inlay materials, not just plastic.

I'm a big fan of blocked and bound necks but I have to say, I have a blocked neck on my P bass and it just doesn't look right. It keeps screaming at me to switch to a conventional dot inlay neck.

Now on a Jazz bass? Fuhgettaboutit!

I mostly use them for adding missing side dots on fretlesses, for which they're excellent. But hey, whatever does it for you!

I love blocks, but only with binding as well. I agree with the comments to match the headstock though. Maybe gold hardware. But looks awesome as is.

Side note---> Is this one of those Rockaudio kits? If so how is it, I have been interested in doing one if they setup and play good

No it was just parts I bought off TB and the neck and empty body were bought from kijiji.

I'm going to side with the sticker suggestions. I put them on one of my basses and it looks way better than I expected, not cheap looking at all. If you end up liking the look, go with the real thing. If not, peel and move on. Consider them a cheap test drive.

jockomo sells nice stick on block "inlays" that are easily removable, fwiw. Getting them in the right spots can be a bit finicky, but they look like the real thing even fairly close.

I think they would look nice on that.
