And this. I like how someone on this forum once put it: "why is it that we celebrate the birth of the least materialistic person who ever walked the earth by going on these insane shopping spree's?" That really got me thinking because it's so true. Again, I can see getting my grandson's a little something but that's it as far as gift giving goes.
One interesting thing I've read/heard before is that many retail stores are in the red until the holidays roll around (usually Black Friday). I'm curious what would happen to a lot of businesses if more people decided to cut back on the gift-giving aspect of Christmas.
