rescued this 1992 MIK plywood body J bass - had a bowed neck which I replaced with an awesome Squier jazz neck from a fellow TB'er which I refinished in rattle can nitro. Came with a white pickguard but when I removed it it became obvious that the color had aged quite a bit so now I'm thinking, no pickguard - what do you think?

to pickguard or not to pickguard - that is the question

On a Jazz that lacks the unnecessary top routing, I always vote no pickguard.
My Jazz came with a guard, I removed it. Had some finish fading as yours does, and I played it anyway.
The finish difference goes away. Play it a lot, leave it out of the case, give it time...
Plus, your bass looks cool without, imo.
However, I am generally anti-pickguard. Even my P bass may wind up without one soon.

Another vote for black or white pick guard. I would say maybe no pick guard but I'm not too sure of the age line in the paint.
