To Velcro or not to Velcro

I just bought my first amp that’s not a combo. It sounds great. The amp weighs 5 pounds. I’m clumsy. I don’t want to knock the amp off or have it knocked off in a bar (or at home either), so I’m thinking about Velcro-ing the head to the cabinet.

Who uses Velcro? Who doesn’t use Velcro?
Why or why not? Are there other solutions aside from just being careful?

Walmart sells elastic straps of various lengths. 2 long ones would strap around pretty much anything. And, they won't leave glue all over your gear when they come off. Velcro always comes off. It's just a matter of time.

Le Corbusier is one of my favorite mid-century architects. Along with Mies, Wright and Kahn.

Any Velcro variety will do the job. It comes in light and heavy duty applications, tape and dots. As for residual adhesive, Goo Gone will take it off without harming most any finish.

For an alternative, bar mats from Amazon are popular in these pages for your exact usage.

can you post a photo? i’ve used velcro for years. always been a big fan, ever since the military started using it back in the early 70’s. i use it a lot for pedals/cables etc. You might consider mounting it in a travel case. let’s see what it looks like…

My Eden gear has interlocking corner pieces that work well, but those heads are way more than 5 lbs.. I’m pretty clumsy myself and haven’t had an issue.

Congrats on your new gear.

Velcro is amazing stuff.
Industrial strength, 1/2 inch wide strips with either the wire or soft side on one side, strong adhesive on the other, will hold anything anywhere, pretty much…
It keeps bike baskets on handlebars when looped around the post, carpets stay out on bare wood floors, etc…
It’ll keep a head on a cab for sure. It simply will not let go unless directly pulled apart.
So yeah pro Velcro
Also it can get wet and even get sand on it and can be washed,
Not for amp application probably:smug:
