I recently acquired a Tobias Basic 6. It's got 5 knobs and I've been able to determine their function but I have no idea what the switch does. I assume the tone knobs are boost/cut. I also noticed in the control cavity there are some configurable components but again, I have no idea what they are for. Does anyone have a copy of the manual for this bass or can explain how the controls function?

Depending on the electronics package, it is either a Active/Passive switch or a Mid Freq select 250/500/800. Boost the mids all the way and flip the switch. You will know at that point what it does. Gibson used different Bar Pre-amps in these. I believe most of Pre-Gibson Tobias Bart TCT circut the switch was Active passive. Where Gibson used it as a Mid select.
If, by "configurable components", you mean there's a few trimpots in side the control cavity (the little blue/white ones), then it's probably an NTMB circuit with mid frequency select switch. At least one of the modules should have a sticker on it, with some details. One of the trimpots should be overall pre-amp gain, so tweaking it up or down a little should cut or boost the bass signal. (Just be careful to remember where you started, in case it doesn't seem to do that and you want to put it back to where it was.
